Fox News host Bill Hemmer claimed over the weekend that men faced reverse sexism because they could not get away with being condescending to women on television.
Hemmers remarks came during a panel discussion on Fox News after Jessica Tarlov argued that Hillary Clinton has a right to criticize Donald Trump for being bigoted towards minorities and women at Monday nights presidential debate.
Or even the comments about Mexicans or Judge (Gonzalo P. Curiel) or the disabled reporter, Tarlov continued. I could go on obviously.
You are! conservative lobbyist Matt Schlapp exclaimed.
Well, youve said a lot too, Tarlov scoffed.
Hemmer interrupted the discussion to make a point: You see, that exchange right there is just something just pause for a moment here.
We work in television, Hemmer opined thoughtfully. And Ive always thought that when a man and a woman is on television, a woman can be sarcastic or even, perhaps, a little condescending toward a man and its okay. But a man can never do that to a woman and get away with it.
Did I fall into a trap? Tarlov laughed.

(42,001 posts)Being condescending toward men, who have held onto most of the power, doesn't hurt them a bit. They haven't been held down by women and seldom fear being raped or killed by them. Being condescending toward women brings up the real history of that and the real fear of promoting it.
