Take that in. A man who can not be trusted to campaign without a babysitter is running for election to become THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!
ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING US!!!!

(81,238 posts)Glad you're here. Yeah, unfortunately, wittle babee needs his Cheeto pacifier. And regular diaper changes, too, it would seem.
Ridiculous. And this guy thinks he's Presidential material...

(267 posts)The imagery inside mh mind of changing Trump's diaper. Ugh.

(135,425 posts)She was given the Trump job as a joke--no one expected him to go all the way. It was a "cub reporter" gig. It's likely the "talent" on Rubio or Cruz thought they'd have their mug in front of the camera at this stage of the game. I'm sure they're miffed!
Katy came to national prominence via the good offices of her ex-boyfriend, the "He's too old for you" Keith Olbermann. He met her when she was a college student looking to break into TV news. She did a few little bits for CURRENT TV, and then managed to get hired on with an NBC affiliate.
Of course it did not hurt her that her father (who has quite recently emerged as probably the 2nd most famous transgender woman in CA--but that's a side aspect of her story, though she didn't take her change well, according to some sources) was the guy who put helicopter police chases on the map--the Tur Family fortune was made by selling video and live feeds to news outlets. He filmed the police beating of Reginald Denny during the LA riots, and he also filmed the famous Bronco chase.
The Turs aren't unknown in the media world. I imagine the name recognition didn't hurt, either. Now Keith is a distant memory, but her star is rising! She may well be Andrea Mitchell's successor...!

(81,238 posts)It would be NICE to see her replace Andrea Mitchell.
But then again, it would be nice to see ANYONE replace Andrea Mitchell.
MADem
(135,425 posts)Andrea better look behind, because Katy's gaining on her!!!
I do think she got the Low Man on the Totem Pole gig with Trump; but they couldn't very well pull her off the job when he actually got the nom, and put one of the High Flyers on, without looking like jerks--plus, KT already had the campaign connections and insight.
It's interesting how a twist of fate, the old "right place at the right time," can change one's life.
I think she's probably the only one who will see some real good come out of the Trump candidacy!

http://www.gq.com/story/alan-greenspan-budget-federal-reserve
Every morning, Greenspan rises from bed at about 5:30 a.m. and feels the rush of his mind coming awake with the rising sun. He has no need for coffee or tea. As far as he can tell, within two minutes of waking up his mind is at full capacity, and the rest of the day is a steady decline from there. By 8 p.m., when he leaves his office to return home, his IQ will have dropped some twenty points and the answers will not come so quickly. Morning, then, is his finest hour, and Greenspan doesn't want to waste it.
That means he can't go in to work or speak to his friends and family. To squander his best moments on human interaction and bureaucratic management would be, to him, a mistake. Instead, Greenspan heads straight to the bathroom, turns on a large fan to create a blast of white noise that blocks out sound, draws a hot bath, strips off his clothes, and settles into the water for at least an hour and sometimes two, until the skin of his body has begun to pucker and prune and he has drained his best ideas onto the notepad beside the tub.
Most of the time, what Greenspan writes in the tub are speeches and public testimony. It is important to use the right kind of pads and pens for this; often, while writing, the pad will slip from his grasp into the water, and if he has used the wrong type of pensay, a fountain penthe ink will bleed from the paper and his ideas will be lost forever. If he uses the right pen, like a Bic, he will be able to pluck the paper back out of the water without damage, stuff the pad into his briefcase, and deliver the pages to his secretary to hang dry and transcribe.
That's eleven years old, but it's still a terrifying view, I should imagine!

Hortensis
(58,785 posts)the Trump phenomenon. She didn't make the news division decisions, but she was very much part of it. I know it's too much to ask, but she could have quit and gotten an honest job. Perhaps she hopes to one day be in a position where she can make a difference. Or not.
Let's see how she covers Hillary. I expect all the same petrified groupthink, or at least the usual negative caveats to every positive statement that some use to stay safely within the circle, but she could prove me wrong.

(135,425 posts)They weren't gonna give her the "good" assignments...and now they can't take it away from her, as she knows all the players in that looney bin.

(135,425 posts)Did maybe 5 minutes at a minor affiliate before she fleeted up to the (relatively speaking) big show.
I think a lot of field reporters felt she didn't pay her dues--she's like a Luke Russert, the path was smoothed for her.
That's why it's got to stick in a few craws that she was handed the joke, the character, the no-chance-in-hell, the ha-ha guy, the lemon in the race, and hoo-eee...she made some lemonade!

It kills me they talk as if all they have to do is get him to keep it together until he's elected. He is sick. And he needs a keeper. 24/7.
Do these idiot Republicans understand they could have HIM on their conscience for the rest of their lives?
