http://bipartisanreport.com/2016/07/08/mike-huckabee-goes-full-stupid-after-dallas-shooting-who-he-blames-will-make-you-angry-details/The former presidential candidate responded to the question of what he would do in Obamas place:
I think this is a time when real leaders bring people together. he doesnt split them apart....
Oh, but the conservative Governor took issue with that statement and said:
He doesnt need to inject the divisive arguments like gun control at a time of great grief for the nation. And he ought to do for us what Ronald Reagan did after the Challenger disaster. Thats remind us of what we have in common, not what separates us. And thats why Im always so frustrated. Barack Obama has such great potential to be a leader.
Obama should be focused on the sacrifice of police officers and solely on the police officers and the sacrifices of their family and leave all of the political discussions aside. Theres plenty of time for that. Today, theres one thing that ought to be on the presidents mind.

(65,616 posts)Nothing Obama does, is ever good enough for him. Ronald Reagan would be horrified by the violence we see today. Reagan changed his tune after HE got shot by a would be assassin.

(58,724 posts)Why can't the headline just say "Huckabee Blames Obama" rather than this stupid "Who he blames will make you angry!" nonsense.
Edit to add: Also, it should be "whom he blames"

(1,098 posts)These days everything will make us angry, will make us cry, we won't believe what happened next, or someone gave the perfect response. Apparently proper headlines will soon be a thing of the past.

(2,686 posts)He sees police deaths as obviously terrible--but black deaths are just "political". Huh.
But the off-the-rails beautiful thing for me is:
And he ought to do for us what Ronald Reagan did after the Challenger disaster. Thats remind us of what we have in common, not what separates us.
Like, is there anything even divisive in mourning about the Challenger explosion in the first place? Was there a political movement saying: "Don't go up in no space shuttles, won't go down in no space shuttles"? Pretty sure that was not a thing.
I have not heard anything about Trump vetting this man for VP--he's really missing out on a gem of comingled ignorance and bigotry.

(21,754 posts)Are Republicans having some kind of contest to see who is the biggest asshole?
I have yet to hear an honest response to what is going on that isn't strictly politically based.

(30,058 posts)Sit back when Bush was president and allowed the assault weapons ban to expire. Since then there have been many and the Republicans are fighting every effort to pass sensible laws to cease facilitating future mass murderers from obtaining a weapon for the next mass shooting.

(45,319 posts)evil stupid for decades. To claim this is some new thing out him is a claim that could only be made by people who have forgotten Huckabee calling for 'relocation camps' for people with HIV deep into the 1990's. Alternatively, the author might know that and simply not think that was offensive because the author might agree with Huck on that one.
It's always 'this person who used to be JUST anti gay is now fully stupid by being critical of straight people too!!!!'
