"America's Got Talent" star is a fake.

Timothy Poe, the supposed "wounded veteran" who stutters but sings well, turns out his military exploits are fake.

(It was on ABC news, he made up all his "heroic" exploits.)

Looked Gothy-Punky? Shy?

I couldn't understand how he could hit those notes--quite astounding. He was singing in a slightly lower key than Kiri Te Kanawa, but he was up there and he was pretty doggone good, too.

He really should get some formal training. He has a future in opera if he wants it.

but that whole story line looked scripted too. It feels like American talent programs are trying to get their Susan Boyle moment. Maybe this genre is finally fizzling out.

I saw a clip of it somewhere. It was an opera piece, so he will get a lot of praise, but no prize.

And there is a local musician, Joe Roma, who has a stutter... he sings wonderfully like Dave Mathews.

Especially with the story he told, in front of an audience of millions? All this is easily checked out, and would have been found out eventually.

I'm always amazed at how liars think. Is it hubris, stupidity, or both?

I didn't see the show but I heard the story on the radio. How stupid is this?

I have no idea how the selection process works but you'd think the people involved would do some sort of background check. They probably ate up a story like his. Why wouldn't they have checked some of this out first?

should be put in front of real veterans and made to explain why they would lie about being wounded in combat. I hope he didn't at any time wear a Purple Heart. That would really piss me off.

he actually did serve didn't he ? but this need to make up some heroic story and seek love from others. it's not just this but so many others who want it in any way.

This guy bothers me less because he is so stupid. I'm more bothered by fake veterans claiming benefits and status that they didn't earn.

Just another fake reality show, broadcast on the fake medium of television, stirring up a fake controversy in order to generate fake ratings.

And the amazing thing is all this fakery actually manages to generate huge, real, monetary profits. Yeah, fakery sells

A sad commentary on our society.
