Lotta emotional investment in choosing a candidate who will get 0.4% of the vote, at best.

(58,785 posts)there is a movement [Libertarians] in the US that thinks Americans are not yet selfish enough.
― Christopher Hitchens
Hitchens in a rare moment of humor. I think. Makes me chuckle anyway.
So, big development: ex-Republican (as in Libertarian just in time to run) MA Governor Bill Weld is the VP candidate. The Libertarian Party is now officially in trouble--corrupted by the seductive lure of possible brief relevance. They elected two conservatives to lead their party in hope of drawing conservatives away from Drumpf and Sanders. Sober members must be wondering with dread--what happens to US if it works?
No big fan of libertarians here (it is another, quite unadmirable, basic personality type before it is a political orientation), so...bad choice, fellas!

(58,724 posts)Darryl Perry was viewed as the true Libertarian purist and Gary Johnson was seen as the more pragmatic choice. Johnson was booed repeatedly and is seen by diehards as more of a Republican than a Libertarian.
