Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump harshly criticized New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) during a campaign rally in her state Tuesday night, blaming the Latina governor for her states economic woes.
?
Trump says, "Why not blame the Latino?" He doesn't like them anyway.

(15,235 posts)Gov. Martinez wont attend Trump rally in Albuquerque

Gov. Susana Martinez will not be in the audience when presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump makes a high-profile campaign stop in Albuquerque tomorrow night.
Martinez told reporters after a news conference in Albuquerque today that she will not attend the event.
When asked why, the two-term GOP governor said she was really busy.
Im the governor of New Mexico and Im really focused on whats going on here in New Mexico just like the announcement we just did with 100 new high-tech and research jobs, improving the education for our kids, another job announcement tomorrow, Martinez said. Those are the things that Im concentrating on and Im going to keep concentrating on.
Martinez, who is the chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association, has thus far remained mum on whether shell back Trump. Her stance has drawn scrutiny from national Democratic groups, who have called on her to state a position.

New Mexico's Republican Governor, Susana Martinez, has publicly stated her opposition to Trump's plan to build a large wall separating the U.S. and Mexico and has yet to endorse him. Her spokesman, Chris Sanchez, has not said whether or not she will attend Tuesday's event at this point.
But the head of the Democratic Party in New Mexico did not hold back from criticizing both Trump and Martinez.
"Donald Trump's racist rhetoric and reckless policy ideas are not welcome in New Mexico. Trump's candidacy has brought the worst out in our country, and as Democrats we denounce his harmful attitudes toward our Hispanic communities, his offensive comments about women, and his outlandish policy ideas," Democratic Party of New Mexico Chairwoman Debra Haaland said in a statement Thursday. "Governor Martinez's skittish behavior about giving him her support is a clear indication of how divisive his candidacy has been." http://www.kob.com/albuquerque-news/donald-trump-rally-set-in-albuquerque/4143508/#.V0RhTeSm0n7
The news on a local radio station 99.5 FM also reported Martinez disapproved of several comments by Trump; but the picture is from a similar report at KOAT ABC TV 7:

(15,235 posts)A Trump/ Martinez ticket was my deepest fears. Had Martinez aligned with Trump, it would have consolidated his bid for presidency.

Trump was trashing Martinez, but Kabuki Theater. Susana has to make it look like she won't abandon Latinos but if she were asked to take the VP slot, she would. He needs the conservative Latino vote to win.

(15,235 posts)I was wondering about the smoke/ tear-gas controversy. Did you actually witness tear-gas being used? The confrontation set Hispanics against Trump on an international level.

My kid and friends were downtown at a concert and of course had to be curious about the fracas. They saw smoke and felt stinging eyes, saw people running from it, took pics, looks like a classic teargassing.
They saw provocateurs and people setting things on fire.

(4,665 posts)If she is going to burn her bridges (to build that wall!) then she probably would want better general election numbers than she is currently seeing. And that was before his little rich-boy hissy fit he has just directed towards her.

Every time I feel hopeless about this election Trump goes and opens his mouth. Every time I feel optimistic about this election, Clinton comes on TV
This is gonna be a long year
