Forsaken by God and GOP, Evangelicals Have the Sads

...............

....fuck you, evangelicals. You sold your souls to the greedy, pandering politicians to fight for you in the bullshit culture wars. You ignore people who actually want to do things that Jesus talked about, like helping the poor and the sick and the oppressed, in favor of false prophets and sinners who get you to believe the lie that you'll get rich by making the rich richer, and that's fine as long as they hate them some queers and abortion, the twin baubles you are tossed as your presumptive leaders rob you blind, turn you into willing hypocrites, and tell you it's all God's will.

Right now, you're actually thinking about voting for the vulgar serial adulterer. And if you feel, as one pastor said, "abandoned by our party," well, shit, it was never really your party. You were just the marks for a bunch of con men, starting with Ronald Reagan. And as long as they abided by your hatred of difference and progress, you let them go on conning you. Now, in Trump, you finally have to face a candidate who can barely find the time to pay you lip service, let alone give you the blow jobs you're used to.

It goes back a lot farther than Ronald Reagan - Joe McCarthy, Richard Nixon, Barry Goldwater and all the sycophants who got them into office and helped them do their dirty deeds. Remember, many of the people we hate from the George W. Bush administration were White House Aides in the Nixon Administration! The ones that weren't had gone to jail and probably still worked for Republicans behind the scenes.

The ONLY reason the Christian fundamentalist went along with the Republicans was because of racism - and a good number of Southern Democrats jumped parties over that issue - remember the Dixiecrats?

When the Republicans lost that fight, they pandered to the religious right with claims that they would outlaw abortion and birth control - and considering how many times over the last 45 years that Republicans have controlled the government, it's amazing that con has lasted as long as it has!

Longer than I have been alive, Republicans have been con men with no moral grounding.

“Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”

He was, he believed, a strict constitutionalist. Very strong on individual rights and separation of church and state. I met him a few times whe I was in college in DC. That was after the 64 campaign and I was pretty intimidated by this man who was painted as a war monger and racist. I found him to be warm and kind and someone who listened to people. Many of his ideas were far out there, but he was no where near the sociopath Republicans of today.

Without it, in all its sordid and despicable permutations, they have no purpose. They have ignored the teachings of the philosophy they claim to worship, and turned to the more mundane practice of idolizing the great and powerful god, Mammon.

So it's absolutely silly to imply some equivalence between voting for the Democrat and voting for Trump.

Further, if Sanders contests the nomination, it will have two effects:
1. It will convince his supporters that their imagined persecution is real.
2. It will guarantee that no one in Democratic office outside of Vermont will ever listen to him again.

To those outside of the comparison, such trivial differences are silly and meaningless.

Whichever side inevitably wises up and realizes that their candidate has absolutely no chance of securing the nomination, those voters would do well to support the remaining Democratic candidate, rather than indulging in some narcissistic delusion that they're the only ones who vote on principle.

They are nuts. Evolution is so, so provable yet they stick their head in the sand.

My parents, like most were hardly perfect but good enough, and among the things I thank them for is not brainwashing me about religion.

Anyone who denies evolution is delusional...it is solidly provable.

So much bloodshed because of religion, we wring our hands about drug related deaths but they do not match holy roller blood.
