Two suicides in the same week at my niece's high school

One was completely out of the blue. No note, no warning. My niece knew this kid well. She recently took an EMT class and he was her partner on some of the rotations. The other was a Muslim kid. Popular, lots of friends, an avid video gamer who had started a gaming club at the school. He had told friends that there was no future for him, his parents would never let him assimilate and become a real American. His friends tried to talk to him, and when that didn't work, they alerted authorities, but it was too late. This is an academically elite public school in a very well off area. The kids have every advantage, but that doesn't matter when something is broken inside.

I am so sorry to hear this. Their families and all the kids at the high school must be in shock.


If only someone could have reached them to fix what was broken, and to help the families see that their children should be the future.
