How Anonymous Just Fooled Donald Trump, the Secret Service, and the FBI

Last edited Mon Mar 21, 2016, 04:55 PM - Edit history (1)

http://theantimedia.org/anonymous-fooled-donald-trump-the-secret-service-and-the-fbi/

On Friday, Anonymous announced it had released Trump’s personal information online — including such details as his cell phone number and Social Security number. Backlash from the Trump front promptly followed, as well as an announcement from the Secret Service and FBI that an investigation had begun.

However, the information had not been hacked or leaked. In fact, everything Anonymous posted had been online — and available for anyone to see — for years.

Anonymous RedCult released a second video to explain the ruse, in which the narrator explains the information “was online since 2013.” Indeed, as the video states, “The government and law enforcement authorities are seeking the arrest of the people responsible for attempting to illegally hack Mr. Trump’s accounts and telephone information.”

Why law enforcement at every level was so quick to pounce on a non-crime and effect arrest of those behind it — without investigating whether a crime had even been committed — paints a telling portrait of exactly the fascist tendencies Anonymous wished to prove.

And to think, I got a post hidden for posting the link.

We've NEVER done "personal/private" information here--even when it came to odious people--doxxing is not cool.

If you wouldn't want people putting your information up on the web, you shouldn't approve of others doing it.

These bozos were playing a joke, but if that wasn't known at the time, then that's why you got a hide.

Thwarted by the Powers that Be, who illegally prevented them from voting.

This is actually a felony, according to Civil Code of the USA. Those who thwarted and detained the young people trying to vote should themselves be arrested.

But the local DA's office cannot do it - it is a matter for the FBI.

Whose agents are usually so enthralled by their Big One Money Party Masters/Mistresses, certainly the agents will not have the time to comply!

I clicked on that link in a mobile browser and a popup message took over my browser and wouldn't let me do anything until I clicked "OK" (which I didn't). I couldn't get it to go away, and actually had to delete the browser and re-install it, thus losing all my links that I had carefully set up.

The redirect went to a site whose URL I won't post here, because I don't want others to fall into the same trap. The message says:

Congratulations User!
You are selected by Cooogle to be among the first few persons to win an $250.00 or other Cooogle prizes!
This free gift is exclusively only for loyal users.

Please confirm that you are the owner of this phone by clicking OK.

I was unable to kill the page, and even after rebooting my phone, when I opened the browser the same stupid popup was there, taking over my screen. I couldn't switch to any of the several other open tabs, nor could I kill the tab that the popup took over. First time I've ever seen that happen, and I am an IT pro who is not easily suckered. Ugh.

I can't guarantee this was a malware popup or a hijack attempt, but it sure smells like one. After reinstalling the browser everything is OK.

I did go to the same link on a desktop browser and didn't have the same experience, although I did see three different banner ads on the page for which my browser settings gave me security warnings.

So, while I greatly appreciate what Anonymous has done, as well as the information about this delicious prank, I do not appreciate the annoyance this web site link has caused. So I request that you find another source to link to.

Site checks out on Securi : https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/bigbluevision.com/2016/03/18/anonymous-just-fooled-donald-trump-secret-service-fbi/

Pretty common client-side browser attack/redirect. If you have an Apple, get an Android or change your browser. Safari is horribly insecure and Apple was "Most insecure" last year: http://betanews.com/2015/02/22/os-x-ios-and-linux-have-more-vulnerabilities-than-windows/

You must have a rooted phone if you were able to removed either Safari (iOS) or Chrome(Android) because those apps are not removable on phones. They are both integral to the OS's - something sounds fishy.

Sorry about your hidden post.

As far as I am concerned, anything Anonymous does with Donald Trump or any other oligarch is OK with me.

However, I don't want his personal information. I just want him to get lost.
