(57,936 posts)I hope we hear a lot from John Edwards at this time when we need a real labor voice.
OK, all you DUers. Jump all over me. But when I know I'm right, I say what I think.
I'm not answering you. I'm not putting you on hold. I'm just waiting until you discover for yourselves how wrong you are.

(475 posts)I'd agree with you.
Yes, he did commit several moral failings that may have damaged his reputation. I'm not denying what he did was wrong.
But this demonization of his message is just as bad. Sometimes, Republicans have something good to say(not a lot, but sometimes). We agree with them, if not the person. Well...why not Edwards? Yes, he screwed up. Badly. Does that make him a right-winger? No.

(14,881 posts)OWS carried it forward and re-called it the 99% versus the 1%. A name chosen by adopting the one that resonated and floated to the top, but still the same basic message.
I refuse to demonize John Edwards. It's so much simpler to keep things b&w: St. Elizabeth and Satan John. That's not generally how real-life works. There is evil out there -- such as the filth that skinned two pet dogs alive -- but Edwards isn't it. I wasn't in their marriage. I was an Edwards supporter and was and continue to be very disappointed in his total fuck up. Because if he hadn't fucked up and had won, I think we'd be in better shape today. Obama was naive; Edwards was not. I am grateful that his fuck up was found out before it could damage the election, though, and refuse to say that because he fucked up big time that he is an insincere and complete fuck up.

The Word - Two Birds With One Drone
The Obama administration reasons that anyone in a strike zone is likely Al Qaeda, so no one has to feel guilty about civilian casualties.
There may not have been a revolution but he definitely changed the debate

but he spoke publicly about poverty.
For that he will be remembered well.. at least by me.
