One day to go -- this election is going down to wire so anything you can do to help will make a BIG difference! Thanks to everyone who has been keeping these threads kicked and recced!
The election to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker and replace him with Democrat Tom Barrett takes place in Wisconsin on Tuesday, June 5. The recall effort needs all hands on deck, and whether you live in the state or not there are ways you can help.

(14,887 posts)Private security? What do they have to fear? You would think being all 'fair and balanced' would be their best defense.

(5,954 posts)...is for the Democratic party to prepare for the potential necessity of a RECOUNT. If it's close (and it will be) there's no reason to believe the GOP won't try to STEAL it the way they did with the Judicial election. Things people can do to help are:
1. Use camera phones to take pictures of excessively long lineups at polling stations in Democratically-leaning districts.
2. Use camera phones to video any disputes with election officials over people being struck from voters lists in these districts, and take names of people who were unfairly cheated of their vote.
3. People with legal training (lawyers) should volunteer to hang around polling stations in case any disputes arise over peoples' right to vote in Dem districts.
4. Take exit polls.
5. Keep an eye on the district counting and returning officers and the various numbers that are posted as votes are counted. Pay attention to any odd numbers.
6. Be ready to go out into the street and protest on Wednesday if this thing appears to be stolen on Tuesday.

(14,887 posts)even when the polls close - take a picture of the people still in line. That time stamp may be important if those people are denied the right to vote.

(12,336 posts)And did so gladly. One thing we should all remember is that there are also some Senators up for recall. Just one Democratic Senator turns the tables in Wisconsin. So please help out on that front as well.
