That was a very nicely worded statement in honor of Scalia. I'm glad he mentioned that he would be nominating his replacement at the proper time. The seed is planted that he should not do so in an election year, which makes no sense at all, so I expect The Republicans will be shouting from the rooftops that Obama is erring again.

However, McConnell, Lindsay, and Cruz wasted no time -- even for Nino's body to cool down -- to state that the next president should fill the vacancy, not President Obama.

That is why President Obama kind of drew a line in the sand on the issue in his short speech. Likewise, Harry Reid earlier wasted no time commenting on his compatriots across the aisle's comments.

I imagine more will be said about the impending GOP obstruction in the coming days. Apparently the GOP is willing to play to their fringe in an election year. Why they think this is advisable kind of baffles. No doubt Bernie and Hillary will likewise comment on the GOP pettiness in due course.

But here's where this is a no win situation for the GOP. Few think that there is a chance of the GOP to retain the majority of the senate this year. They have far too many incumbents running in states that went for Obama. The Democrats have maybe one from a red state who is in danger.

How many of those GOP senators are willing to jeopardize their seats to stand with their brethren to oppose all SCOTUS nominees, because that would certainly be a prominent campaign issue? It is a lose-lose position for them.

And then, do these GOP idiots actually think that Bernie and Hillary will just shut up about this?

The GOP is jumping the shark, but of course, they've been doing that for a while now. But Republicans don't get to the White House without moderate and independent support. By playing to their fringe on this, again it is a lose-lose situation.

As Snagglepuss once said, "Self-inflicted Bar-B-Que; they cooked their own goose. Exit stage left."

I don't know any other way to interpret this at this early time. But this seems like a clusterfuck for the GOP.

My best to you all.
