Yes, old people die without forewarning: A distant relative of mine, ~75-80yo, was working part-time at a store to keep himself busy. He sat down on a park-bench for a break, died, and it took a while for people to realize that this old man sitting on a bench was dead.

CNN reporting that he had been at a private party of about 40 people. They found him dead in his room when he didn't come downstairs for breakfast. No cause of death yet.
