but I also know people who tripped in the 60s, got scared, and retreated into loving Jebus and voting Republican. Like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it, and some folks don't have a lot to put into it.

Our species spends 99% of it's time fighting over gold, and not giving much of a damn about anyone, or anything else.

What we need is so far beyond "Socialism or Capitalism" it makes one wonder.....

We weren't perfect, but we were on the right track until *that* son of a bitch (and his handlers, because I don't think he was that bright) stole the 1980 election.

was every bit as stellar as his hollywood portrayals were. His most convincing role was in the autobiographical flick: "My life as a box of rocks"

by using the southern strategy ..... sending dog whistles to the masses to hate black and brown people. Evil! I wish I was browner, because I am so white that I cannot endure being in the sun very long. My pale skin does not take well to sun damage.

I bet Mr. Mitchell liked Mark Twain. They speak the same plain language.

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

Mark Twain quote (although I would have to look it up to verify the exact wording) goes like this: "May I die in Kentucky (I am a native Kentuckian, but you could insert your own state if you wish) as it is always twenty years behind."

We (foolishly, at least in some respects) moved from coastal CA to deep East TX in 1991, and it was definitely a time warp.

https://m.

(Full disclosure: I am a native Texan, and spent the bulk of my childhood, unhappily in large part, in deep East Texas.)

ETA: I don't mean unhappily because of my family, I mean because of deep East Texas.
