You see when we had that lights out here in San Diego I lent one of my battery radios to a neighbor, and made sure our local seniors and not so seniors were ok. I know, someday I will stop caring... (no, not really it is in my nature)
So tonight one of my neighbors brought us a Christmas gift. No, it is not what she brought, but the detail and the thank you and the building of community. (For the record I will not bake this week).
But that was something that took me by surprise. I always do these things not expecting any kind of thank you. It is just what you do. So that was nice.

(7,719 posts)That's how I see it. Acts of kindness towards others should be something everyone should do for themselves, not the praise it brings.
Whether it's loaning a cup of sugar to a neighbor, handing a sawbuck to a guy holding a sign, or paying for someone's groceries if they're running short of cash. You just do it...and it feels damn good. I know most people don't have extra cash to be handing out these days, but those who do should be helping out in some manner. You can help out in food drives or collecting clothes and blankets for those who need them. Send $20 to a food closet or shelter. Heck, sometimes just shaking a persons hand and saying hello can lift one's spirit.
Why?.....................It's just what you should do.
