Sadistic Cops Make K-9 Maul Unarmed Suicidal Teen – Caught Planning and Celebrating It in Texts

Sadistic Cops Make K-9 Maul Unarmed Suicidal Teen – Caught Planning and Celebrating It in Texts
Florida police department has a pattern of commanding K-9 dogs to attack people without provocation.

Months after the Herald-Tribune exposed the North Port Police Department for routinely commanding their K-9 dogs to attack people without provocation, the department has done nothing to address the problem. In fact, it defends its officers even in the most egregious cases, including the mutilation of unarmed juveniles.

There is clearly a culture within the North Port PD that encourages and applauds this cowardly form of brutality, as revealed by messages sent between K-9 handlers involving the case of 18-year-old Jared Lemay.

Lemay’s mother had called the North Port PD when she learned that her son was apparently about to commit suicide. Keith Bush, the leader of their K-9 unit, responded to the scene, but not before telling a fellow K-9 handler to come join in the fun:

“On this day, before he or any other officer reached Jared Lemay’s home, Bush sent a message to fellow K-9 handler Michael Dietz: “COME GET UR BITE.”

Minutes later, records show, Bush messaged Dietz again: “IM GONNA TAKE UR BITE IF U DONT HURRY UP.”

Lemay, who was found unarmed and hiding in a trash can in his garage, was bitten in the face and back by Dietz’s dog, a Belgian Malinois named Cammo.”

After he was taken to the emergency room, another cop, William Carter, messaged Dietz “CONGRATS,” commending him for his dog’s first bite.

Another dialogue between Officers Bush and Brandon McHale further reveals the culture of brutality.

“YOUR BITE OR (Dietz’s)?” McHale inquired.

“I LET (Dietz) HAVE IT,” Bush replied.

“NICE, HOW BAD?” McHale asked.

“BAD,” Bush wrote. “FACE AND BACK.”

“SKIN GRAFT BAD?” McHale asked.

“NO,” Bush wrote.

“COULDA BEEN WORSE THEN, HE SHOULD HAVE COMPLIED,” McHale said, ending the conversation.”

According to Lemay, who was hiding in a trash can after contemplating suicide, the cops entered the garage, peeked inside the trash can and closed the lid, and then pushed it over and sicced the dog on Lemay before he could do or say anything. The Belgian Malinois latched onto Lemay’s face and dragged him from the trash can, and then bit him on the back before an officer stopped the attack.

______

When the Herald Tribune investigated why this was happening, it discovered remarkably lax policies on when attack dogs should be used, and even more dangerously, officers who seemed to enjoy freeing their dogs to attack suspects. In a story posted earlier in the year the newspaper reported:

North Port handlers commanded their police dogs to attack unarmed juveniles and citizens whom police did not have sufficient evidence to charge with a crime. In at least two cases, police dogs bit unarmed, suicidal citizens.

And they have department policies on their side.

North Port's police canine policies state canines may "assist in the pursuit, apprehension or prevent the escape of a person reasonably believed to have committed a crime." That is an uncommon amount of leeway when compared to model policy set forth by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The people hurt in these attacks claim permanent injuries. And over this holiday weekend, the newspaper published contents of texts between two K-9 officers who were clearly showed that they were looking forward to the possibility of having their dogs attack an 18-year-old young man. His mother had called the police because she feared her son was suicidal. The man, Jared Lemay, was wanted for a probation violation. K-9 handlers Keith Bush and Michael Dietz responded:

On this day, before he or any other officer reached Jared Lemay's home, Bush sent a message to fellow K-9 handler Michael Dietz: "COME GET UR BITE."Florida K-9 Handlers Sure Seemed to Enjoy Mauling This Suicidal Young Man
‘COME GET UR BITE’

Sadistic a**holes Keith Bush and Michael Dietz

In the three years since the attack, Dietz has left the department after being arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend when she tried to break up with him. Bush is now the department's senior K-9 handler and his dog has bitten 25 times since 2012.

My sister's kid is a bit of a shithead, from what I can tell. And he runs around with some shitheads. Kids stuff. But the Orlando cops sure love sicking their dogs on kids.

My sister told me she went to pick her kid up at the police station. One of their friends had the dog sicked on him. She said the kid looked like he had been through a wood chipper.

Apparently, the next time the cops sucked the dog on him while he was hiding in a retention pond, he tried to drown the dog. Last I heard he was charged with attempted murder of a police dog.

1) to wear body-cam that can't be turned off at-will
2) to be retrained to not "shoot first ask later"
3) to have extensive training in conflict resolution
4) their retirement fund be the very first source of ANY pay-out for
ANY law-suit for abusing their authority
5) to be drug tested regularly
6) to be background-checked for ANY connection whatsoever with ANY
white supremacist organization.

.. and this is just off the top of my head.

they automatically get the benefit of the doubt' and 'can do no evil' .. <-- NOT

that the level at which one fails the psychological testing be made much higher. That is, instead of the current 40% failure rate for the tests that it be raised to at least 60% (or higher) and no retesting allowed. More like barred from becoming a member of any police force (it should remain on your permanent record and be accessible by any police force in the entire country, including for colleges and private security.)

I did a search earlier this year about the psyche testing and found that 40% figure. I also learned that they're allowed to retake the tests.

Personally, I'd rather we could somehow throw out the minimal training systems in place now and replace them with what the Germans use: 130 weeks of training, including how to defuse situations without violence.

I am curious if there's a person or group of people behind how our police forces have devolved into what we have today. Something had to change somewhere for us to get to what we're experiencing now. It didn't just devolve because they're police.

I've seen other stories in recent months about that topic, so I knew it existed. It kind of reminds me of how at one time, the US military's standards were set so low that gang members were getting in, and then getting training in the kind of weapons they should never have owned.

We seem to love doing social experiments in this country, to the ultimate detriment of the general populace.

I have former law enforcement in my family and they HATE this shit. It's no surprise to me that this happened in a small police department. They are often the worst. They pay less, so they don't always have the same standards for their cops.

I had a cousin who was a former Houston cop. He became a police chief in a small town in South Texas. LOTS of corruption. He ended up being fired for trying to clean things up.

I have to wonder why K9 was sent to deal with a suicidal teen.

If I were on a jury when this civil suit goes to trial I'd give the kid an 8 figure decision. High 8 figure. As for the cops, both should have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon (the dog) at the very least, but we know that didn't happen and won't happen in the future. The only possible justice for the kid is mountains of money.

First, Jared Lemay (obviously). I hope he gets an 8-figure judgement.

Second, for the dogs. To be turned into vicious tools of evil wasn't something they asked for.
