(2,978 posts)Maybe float a few rumors of past girlfriends who'd made this claim . . .
He's so insecure that he might actually take the bait.
Of course, thinking that Trump insisting his "schlong is Y-U-U-U-G-E" on national TV would finally sink his campaign is probably naive of me.

(14,449 posts)That's why I think this is all a game and he really doesn't want to be president. He probably is stunned with how ridiculous his supporters are. I think he thought he'd be out of the race by now especially after the Fiorina nasty comments. I wonder what he has in store for America next?

(3,051 posts)But any NY politician who gets offended by a Yiddish cuss word needs to grow a spine.
It's a weak thing to get riled up about and makes us look weak.
This is a distraction, orchestrated by Trump, to distract from his real policy idiocy and the fact he can't do basically any of the things he is promising.

(14,040 posts)but playing "offended" draws those that are offended on her behalf closer to her.
Besides, do we really want a Presidential candidate who has an obvious problem with women to get away with that type of language? Someone needs to call him out on it whether it does any good or not.

(13,877 posts)Is that now PC in public and from political candidates? Oh, and my spine is fine and I think apologetics for it make us look weak.

(509 posts)Most of the country thinks political correctness has gone too far. A few bits of nonsense from Trump get the ultra PC brigade outraged and calling him an evil, sexist, white male.
It's pure rope-a-dope from a Republican point of view.
Make no mistake, prissy outrage over non-stories is exactly what they want, and drives people on the fence away from voting Democrat.

(37,748 posts)I think it has less to do with any offense taken but rather both points towards and illustrates the character of the speaker; nor do I believe there is any valid evidence that this has shown us to be weak. It's no more and no less a distraction than any other statement offered during a primary campaign... anyone with eyes yet thinks he's a buffoon and anyone with closed eyes yet thinks he's the new-Messiah.

(6,960 posts)The biggest mistake Trump's opponents have made thus far is to engage with him when he makes these attacks.
Politicians are amateurs when it comes to showmanship ... and Trump is above all a showman, a huckster, a master carnival barker.
Trump, it seems to me, is a perfect example of a celebrity character who thrives on attention and will go-away when and /or if people start ignoring him.
The Clinton campaign will suffer if they respond to this latest episode, they make a huge mistake if they turn Trump's verbal assault into something serious, into a real issue of "bullying" or sexism, etc. Unfortunately, they've already begun to do this.
Trump will turn any response into ridicule of the 'perpetual victim' and this will only increase his notoriety and popularity with those tired of politics as usual.
It is going to be interesting to watch.

(65,340 posts)would prefer more decorous public behavior in a president--or even in a presidential candidate.
I have a longshoreman's mouth in private, but during the 18 years when I ran a home daycare, I didn't even curse in private, because I knew doing so habitually would inevitably lead me to let slip something untoward in front of a small child, and that would be inappropriate indeed.
Similarly, I seldom use curses or vulgar words in my online posts, and even then never without bleeping them with asterisks. It just isn't polite to force people in public spaces to listen to language that many are appalled or disgusted by. If we are not simply being rude and vulgar for the sheer childish delight in shocking others, we tamp down our more vulgar language and behavior when in public.
One benefit to taking such care, BTW, is that when I do occasionally (rarely) use an uncensored expletive around others, it carries real emphasis.

(61,694 posts)I support Bernie in the primary, but I despise and am offended by his attacks on Sec. Clinton. I hope it all backfires on the bully and his moronic supporters.
