Last night Disney installed metal detectors at the entrances of their 4 Disney World theme parks. Visitors will be randomly selected to go through the detectors before entering the theme parks. This comes on the heels of the report we shared last week of the gentleman who tried to sneak a gun into the Magic Kingdom.
From what we have heard the metal detectors will be in all 4 Disney World theme parks and at the premiere of Star Wars tonight in Disney Springs. They are also coming to Disneyland and California Adventure as well.
Disney is discontinuing the sales of toy guns of any kind at the theme parks, including bubble guns and Buzz Lightyear toy blasters. All of the gun merchandise is being pulled off the shelves and guests are encouraged to leave their own toy guns at home or not being allowed to gain entry to the park. Light-sabers and swords are still for sale as of right now. No word if they will be pulled later.
Finally one more change, the costume policy at Disney is also being modified. Guests 14 years old and older will no longer be allowed to wear costumes at the theme parks. From what we have heard this includes Mickeys No So Scary Halloween Party.

(115,680 posts)they wouldn't let us take our big water guns down to the corner to watch him drive past. We had to leave them at home, for some reason us kids couldn't figure out.

(49,445 posts)Culture war. Stop glamorizing guns. Stop indoctrinating kids with toy guns. Stop making gun ownership normal and acceptable. Make gun owners social outcasts and gun ownership socially unacceptable. Stop a major corporation from profiting from gun culture.
You're getting what you wanted, so why the sour puss? Shouldn't you be hailing this as some sort of victory against "gun fetishists"?

(51,122 posts)Guns are well on their way to being unacceptable.
The misinterpreted for profit Second Amendment is the equivalent of doctors in cigarette ads promoting them as 'healthy.'
There was a correction for those.
There will be a correction for SCOTUS's promotion of guns.

Ultimately the Heller decision will go down as the beginning of the end for gun culture, much as the rise of the Tea Party marks the end of the Republicans.

(49,445 posts)So, why the sour puss?
Is it because annual domestic gun production has tripled since 2007?
Is it because annual imports of guns has doubled since 2007?
Is it because the guns you want to ban have, because of the discussion and fury about them, have become annual best-sellers?

Hate and racism fuel this last gasp before people say enough is enough.

(49,445 posts)Which is effectively the Democratic Party platform.
So if your goal is to reduce the number of guns in the country, you're failing miserably. You're powerful enough to make it seem a possibility but not powerful enough to actually do it.

(37,748 posts)They sales of firearms spikes consistently after each mass shooting, regardless of whether a politician or party says anything or simply remains silent. However, I can certainly understand the desire to attribute sales spikes to a person, or a "side", as the commercial branding is much less savory (though more accurate and relevant) if attributed to the incidents themsevles.
Odd that... in the first year of his presidency, President Obama signed into law more repeals of federal gun policies than in the eight years of the Bush administration that preceded him. FUD Marketing is effective... not at all accurate, yet very effective.

(51,122 posts)A few months ago some dumbfuck tried to check into a Disney resort with a gun strapped on his side.
Became belligerent when confronted by employees and guests. Cops were called.
The story made its way around theme park circles. Many calls were made.
Nothing to do with terrorism, but with common sense.

(6,342 posts)They can ban guns from their property. So those gun-nuts have absolutely no case in that situation.

(7,981 posts)After rushing to get our last exclusive report out to the public on the alarming incident that happened on July 9, 2015 at the Disneyland Resort as quickly as we could, we decided to go back and get more detailed and accurate information from eye witnesses and our secret informants inside the resort who saw what actually happened on that fateful night in Disneyland's Esplanade main entrance plaza.
What we found out about the events that took place on that night were far worse than we had first reported in our original report.
We're going to clarify and correct the new facts we obtained of exactly what happened from the numerous testimonials we got from Disneyland main gate security officers and main entrance cast members who were there and were willing to talk to us in confidence about what really happened that night.

I don't see the need to carry a weapon at Disneyland.
