Mix some chemicals into your water-cannons that will make the protesters stink like shit, causing them to disperse.
Except that the road, every item and every bystander will also stink like shit for a week.
Nunchakus
They were in use by cops in the 1980s and were discontinued after said cops accidently broke some wrists with them.
But that won't happen this time. There's a 16-hour-training-program!
The "Magnetactical belt clip"
You got shot, have only one good arm but need to reload your gun? Fear not, with the "Magnetactical belt clip" you can magnetically attach your gun to your belt... in a way that makes the barrel point at your genitalia... while you are bleeding and shaking and fumbling around with your gun in the midst of a hectic firefight.
"Taser X12 Shotgun"
Shoot a taser at the evil-doer! If the cartridges aren't expired. And if you manage to hit him in the first place, because the projectiles are unaerodynamic as shit.
"Z-RO"
A laser-pointer attachment that allows you to blind your opponent. Is this dangerous? Let's consult the product description:
Please note how the text doesn't actually say that the device causes "zero" damage to the eyes.
Plus minor obstacles like blinding a raging, armed attacker. Or blinding potential witnesses to police brutality.
"The Alternative"
A gun-attachment that makes the very first shot non-lethal. This would work, but not with the US police-force. Other police-forces in foreign countries are trained to take single shots at the limbs of an attacker. US-cops are trained to unload their whole magazine into the torso of the attacker.
Remote-controlled drones with rubber-bullets, pepper-spray and tasers
Because nothing ensures a fair, professional and appropriate use of weapons like attaching them to a drone and dehumanizing your opponents into videogame-villains.

(1,683 posts)measures that police were taking to deal with problems. I would rather the police leverage technology to find such means and avoid all shootings. Just like sending in a robot to deal with a pipe bomb, a drone which could take down (without killing) a perp would be an ideal from my point of view.

(16,423 posts)The Drone-War has shown that not engaging the suspect face-to-face makes it mentally easier to resort to violence.
Just imagine a cop watching a suspect on a screen and repeatedly hammering the "tase"-button. Or the "pepperspray"-button. Or the "beanbag"-button. Or the "blind"-button. Or the "deafen"-button.

(1,958 posts)If it is a correct choice to wound a suspect in order to put then down, then a Taser or bean bag ahould be used. Shooting at limbs is from the movies.
