As seen in the clip above, the two wrapped up a copy of the Bible in a cover that led passersby to believe they were being read quotes from the Koran.

“If you reject my commands and abhor my laws you will eat the flesh of your own sons and the flesh of your own daughters. I do not allow for a woman to teach. You will have to cut off her hand. Do not forgive her,” was just one of the quotes from the Bible that people thought was Islamic in origin. The reactions from the people who heard verses like that were telling.

“Cutting off people’s hands—I mean, apparently that’s just they way they are,” one woman responded.

“If you’ve been raised with this book and these kinds of thoughts, it’s going to influence the way you think,” a man said.

Many folks in the U.S. would probably have the same reaction. A survey released in November by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 56 percent of Americans say the values of Islam are at odds with America’s values and way of life, up from 47 percent in 2011.
