From the Onion 2003

As usual, the Onion gets it right:

This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t

If you thought Osama bin Laden was bad, just wait until the countless children who become orphaned by U.S. bombs in the coming weeks are all grown up. Do you think they will forget what country dropped the bombs that killed their parents? In 10 or 15 years, we will look back fondly on the days when there were only a few thousand Middle Easterners dedicated to destroying the U.S. and willing to die for the fundamentalist cause. From this war, a million bin Ladens will bloom.

3. The Onion didn't draft this concept, and it has been repeatedly endlessly.

But, it has been proven correct over and again.

Look, you've been proven wrong, so stop talking. You've had your say already. Be quiet, okay? Everything's fine.

It's not that the Onion was a unique source of the prediction that the war would lead to horrible negative consequences. The whole Onion piece is really about the non-reasoned rebuttal. It was their take on the pro-war position that makes it an Onion piece rather than a sober prediction of disaster!

"To take over a country and impose one's own system of government without regard for the people of that country is the very antithesis of democracy"?

You are completely wrong.

Trust me, it's all going to work out perfect. Nothing bad is going to happen. It's all under control.

Why do you keep saying these things? I can tell when there's trouble looming, and I really don't sense that right now. We're in control of this situation, and we know what we're doing. So stop being so pessimistic.

That's what the PNACers told us all.

13. And we have Saint Hillary of Walmart to thank for one of the crucial votes.

Those children ten years ago: they were orphaned because she and other Democrats did not oppose the bombs that killed their parents and warped their minds, because she wanted to look like a leader and therefore followed where W and his cronies led the charge. The war was illegal and the aftermath ill-prepared. The results: almost inevitable animosity from young men with nothing left to lose.

But let's just keep casino-banking, because 9/11.

I'm not a Clinton supporter, but I think she would have had a hard time justifying a No vote to her constituents. Chuck Schumer voted for it too.

Plenty of reasons to vote against, plenty of constituents who would have praised her for doing so.
