(60,010 posts)Even when I am mad about other things he does, his genuine liking for kids is a huge plus.
You cannot fool kids.
Love the pic of him blowing on the dandelion.

(18,402 posts)I mean this in a serious, even political, waynot just in the "aw, they are so cute" way. Children are the future of our country, and they need to be cherished and nurtured and even enjoyed like this. They are the ones who are going to cure the diseases that beset us; they are the ones who are going to wipe the drool off our faces when we are in the nursing home; they are the ones who will build incredible buildings or paint the remarkable pictures that nourish our souls. They will pick up our trash and solve global warming; they will cook the food and run the government. They're important as well as cute. That is why the president and first lady pay attention to them.
And that is why I feel sad when I see posts here sometimes that belittle children or the needs of parents and families (asking where's mine, or bemoaning the undue attention given to family issues). It's why I'll probably feel sad when someone comes to make fun of this thread as puffery.

(21,211 posts)I work with kids with special needs they pick up really quick if you are not real. One girls I work with is very difficult , yesterday she got on my last nerve. I did not engage her as much and worked with the other kid. She kept coming up kicking me and hitting me. My feeling is if you can't be positive you don't engage.

Re the pics, I liked Tiny Doctor.
Obama is not afraid of showing his human side, even though he's one of the "coolest" guys we have ever had as prez.
