I don't think the lives of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Akai Gurley and Walter Scott should be abbreviated.

I think the term "BLM" is highly offensive and I'm astounded by the responses over this.

thing that matters. When republicans refer to the Democratic Party as "the democrat party", that is offensive because it isn't what the Democratic Party calls itself, and it is being done by republicans to marginalize it

People on DU who use the abbreviation are not doing it to marginalize, or hide anything, so the only thing left is how does the organization want to be referred to as?

If you read my post I started out by saying....

Even though I don't agree with everything about the organization calling itself #BlackLivesMatter, I do find it astounding that white progressives have taken it upon themselves to abbreviate the phrase "Black Lives Matter" to BLM out of convenience.


I was talking about a particular organization in that post not the phrase/term.
