Huckabee crossed a disturbing line long ago...

Last edited Mon Jul 27, 2015, 04:33 PM - Edit history (1)

He's dangerous because he does everything with an awe shucks demeanor or smile.

However, his words are not that of a Christian or a decent human being in general. He makes calculated
smears and one that he did a few years ago was particularly appalling.

What I know is troubling enough. And one thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, very different than the average American. When he gave the bust back to the Brits, the bust of Winston Churchill, a great insult to the British. But then if you think about it, his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather, their view of the Mau Mau Revolution in Kenya is very different than ours because he probably grew up hearing that the British were a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather."

What a disgusting statement right out of the dog whistle Southern Strategy playbook. What a piece of shit.

3. I grew up in So. California and I think of select British generations as persecuting imperialists...

but then, I have Irish heritage that drives my perceptions. Early on, we found humor imagining a royal motorcade in the early '80s, a spectacle where we could stand on the curb and shout our encouragement: "Up Chuck and Di! Up Chuck and Di!"

But then, today, I have quite a number of British clients, people I enjoy socializing with and helping in many different ways. Imagine, some of my best friends are British, and my brother actually married one.

So there's all sorts of ways to perceive the British. I believe, with anyone, the best way to judge how someone will interact with other people is to pay attention to how they interact with other people. Anything else is baseless speculation.

and it must be shocking to Huckabee, but those of us who are whiter than he is, glow in the dark Irish white, have less use for the Brits of a certain number of generations than his fantasy of Obama does.

have nothing to do with religion. To them it's a weapon and a hateful one at that.

Just because something is unsavory does not get it an automatic disconnect from religion.
