Divide and Conquer: While their neighbors were forced to dive into an imaginary pool, the local coffee klatch was told to ignore them. Army infiltrators wearing black, military-style boots blended in with each group. The military spies were there to report on what the locals were saying.
Paper, please: Here we see locals in the makeshift dining hall. Note that the trays are empty. One woman, desperate from hunger, is forced to eat paper. Many locals, like the woman sitting alone, got nothing to eat. Some just got water.
No Chair to Speak of: In Louisiana, this man was being held for what officials called "observation". He attacked troops for not showing respect to his favorite chair. Once locked up, he was made to read to the wall. When asked about the incident, the wall had no comment.
"Frat House Treatment": These prisoners of war were forced to drink beer and smoke cigarettes while lounging in the hot sun. One military official was quoted as saying, "You'll see the same kind of thing at Frat houses." Several prisoners complained that the beer was hot and the cigarettes were generic.
