‘Antonin Scalia is a Douche’ brunch special sells out in record time

LOL.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that marriage is a legal right for all Americans, regardless of the couple’s gender composition. Justice Antonin Scalia was not happy with the decision, calling the ruling “a threat to American democracy” in his written dissent.

Friday is also the day Sam’s Morning Glory Diner comes up with the names of its weekly breakfast specials. This week, the Philadelphia restaurant put two new items on its menu, drawing inspiration from current events.

“Antonin Scalia is a Douche,” an egg dish with vegetables, cheese, and andouille sausage (for which there was enough meat to make 150 servings) sold out before 10 AM on Sunday. “The Supreme Court Finally Got It Right” quiches, available with or without prosciutto ham, were gone in less time than that.

Carol Mickey, who owns the restaurant, tells the Billy Penn that customers responded positively to menu jokes at Scalia’s expense. “Not one single person complained,” Mickey says. “The atmosphere in [the diner] was really wonderful. People were just loving saying it! ‘I’ll have the Scalia is a Douche, please.’”

. . . retire from the Supreme Court, a position he seems intellectually ill suited for, and put all his energy into his other career: growing chins.

Most Italians I know are kind and left leaning. I think Scalia is better suited in a place more reflective of his inner-being--hell.

I am thinking of retiring to Italy, so this is VERY unkind of you to suggest

I love Italy too. Been there 3 times so far. The Italians I've met are all quiet friendly, and none of them cared all that much for the, as my one friend put it, "the horrible and disgusting Silvio Berlusconi."

I think since those two are so much alike making them share a small 8x10 poured concrete room would be so nice.

No Italians I know had any use for Berlusconi either. Smarmy piece of garbage.

My husband and I just returned from Tuscany a month ago - his first time, my 5th. Rented a villa and a bunch of friends joined us. I admit I’ve been captivated by the region beyond all reason. Hubby and I promised each other we’d make a yearly visit from here on in (and one week in England). Wasn’t a hard promise to make!

Glad you're here! I always like saying an opening hello in a humorous thread. Everybody's always in a good mood, and usually RUTHLESSLY clever! Stuff like this unites us all! I figured out that there are a few universal languages that everybody can speak pretty to some extent, and without a translator. One is math. Another would be the arts (music/drawing/etc). Another would be food. Another would be laughter.

Felt good!

"I’ll have the Scalia is a Douche, please.” And another Scalia is a Douche order to go, please!

That felt good! The next time His Imperiousness throws some smart-ass "bite me" gesture from on high, we could order a few servings of the Scalia is a Douche and return the favor! And of course, the ultimate gesture arises a few hours after having dined, because digestion is complete and we then proceed to shit him back out. Please do consider that a metaphorical salute, antonin dear. It physically demonstrates what we'd like to do about you in the Supreme Court. And do have a nice day!

for using the term douche to describe someone. I guess it all depends on who you are, as this story at the time of this writing has 76 recommends and lots of chatter. Do I get my honor back now? Just curious. smh
