Friends,

Thanks for all the wonderful comments regarding the short story about my mom from HERE COMES TROUBLE that I sent you a few days ago. I figured it wouldn't be right if I didn't also send you the short story about my dad from the book. It's entitled 'Christmas '43,' and you can download it (or read it) here, free of charge.

Merry Christmas,

That your father had passed. If (hopefully) I'm wrong, please extend my fondest wishes, as well as the sincere gratitude for his sacrifices. If so, I hope that you wear with pride, the knowledge that in some small way, your pop helped shape this nation. It's obvious that you do.

I'm in my second war now. It doesn't make me a hero. Only a survivor. The only reason I mention it is to lend a little credibility to my warm wishes and thanks. Keep fighting the good fight. The reasons for which those, and other sacrifices were/are made, still live on in those of us with a clear vision of our nation, and what we hope the future will bring.

Merry Christmas indeed.
