Just a thought

Maybe there should be a stickied list of pejoratives that are prohibited on this site.

This is a privately owned website. I am no way suggesting that you shouldn't be free to say anything you want about anybody as long as you are willing to live with the consequences but this is a members only site.

This would avoid a lot of confusion.

Thank you in advance.

PEACE

You'll look more eloquent, and be less likely to use an offensive word.

Or, will we be forbidden to say:

hard
Dick
wet
hole
French
muffin
muff
prong
prick
woody
lubricious
horny
stroke
thighs
bush
loins
balls
nuts
come
cock
tongue
finger

And, many, many, more.

While visiting Paris he was wet from the rain and fell into a hole. The French offered him a muffin. He had his ear muff on so he didn't notice, even when someone poked him with a prong. Someone suggested they prick his finger. Woody Allen was there and had a few drinks and was feeling lubricious. A horny goat was in the hole and came by to stroke his thighs. The goat walked over to a bush, girded its loins, played with some rubber balls and ate some nuts. Cheney said come over here goat, this cock and rooster might play with you too. When they saw his tongue wagging, some kind french people threw down a rope. He grabbed on by a finger and was lifted out of the hole. They took him to the Hague, where he was tried and convicted for crimes against humanity.

Is avoidance of intolerant language too difficult for clever people? I'd have thought even an under-educated dullard like myself could grasp the obvious consequences of sexist and racist language (literal as well as intended) without confusion or hurting my brain too much.

Even more, I'd have thought that even an under-educated dullard like myself knows what is or is not sexist and racist language... again, without confusion.

Not sure where you're going with the P word- I'm going to guess you're playing Possum, lol.

So cute having conversations where "it's just so hard to figure out", reminds me of working with grade schoolers.

It's common in spaces where diverse progressives gather to require those gathering to be respectful of those denigtated and denied a place at the table in many other places.

If you want to spew racism or sexism- you are not welcome many places. And this is one pr them. Tough shit.

to use against an opponent.

Years ago the Admin said in a pm to me that the site couldn't function if the use of those terms was constrained; many of them regularly showed up in the pics of the moment.

As long as they aren't used in some manner that breaks any other rule the direction for application of such terms seems to be ad libitum

by some thinking that everything they read is gospel and to be taken literally, and some think the same stuff is cute, funny, witty, or an acceptable way to throw insults...

But members have to abide by rules, as you say, but humor makes things a bit blurry sometimes...
