Poll: Bernie Is Beating BidenSanders has more support than Uncle Joe in the latest Quinnipiac poll.

There's no doubt the Democratic presidential field is being dominated by Hillary Clinton, but who's placing a distant second may be a surprise to some.
Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders both have slivers of support only Sanders, for the first time, is getting more of those morsels. A new Quinnipiac University poll shows Clinton receiving 57 percent of support from Democratic voters nationwide, while Sanders has 15 percent and Biden has 9 percent.
Sanders has slowly picked up steam in these polls. Back in November, and then again in March, he was at just 4 percent. In April, in a poll released a week before he announced on Capitol Hill that he planned to seek the White House, his numbers ticked up to 8 percent. Interviews for the latest poll were concluded the same day as Bernie-fest Sanders official campaign kickoff in his home state of Vermont so the full impact of the official announcement may not even be expressed in these numbers.
Meanwhile, Biden has said he wont make a decision until late summer about whether he'll run for president, and has steadily polled around 9-10 percent.
Matt Dallek, an assistant professor of political management at George Washington University, wasnt that surprised to see a Bernie bump. People became aware that he was running, Dallek says, ticking off the numerous media appearances Sanders has made since announcing his intentions. Just being on voters radar is one way to get some momentum.
Dallek also noted that Sanders can probably always count on a certain amount of liberal support, especially if Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren remains on the sidelines.
I think hes actually more effective as a spokesperson for the left than many people thought prior to his announcement, Dallek says. Hes very smart, hes very engaging theres something kind of bracingly authentic and honest about him and his views."

(33,688 posts)and means what he says??" Been a long lonely, lonely time since someone did that. I think it was Paul Wellstone, who Bernie reminds me of greatly. And a lot of people who never thought they'd vote for Wellstone became big supporters because of his truthfulness. No one owned him - or Bernie - and people can see that and hear it.

(45,274 posts)Or at least they fake it well enough to lure in 90% of the population. How else do these clowns--including a fair share of Democrats get elected? Why wouldn't honest & sincere candidates win all the time? Why did people pay any attention to the Bakkers or Swaggart?

(55,745 posts)The numbers will change even more. It's also why Corporate McPravda is ignoring his campaign. The guy won't need to buy billions in air time.

(9,126 posts)All with the intention of shutting him up. They don't really want people to hear what he has to say. He's not practiced and ruthless enough if they pull shennanigans and they will. The party doesn't want to hurt downticket fundraising or lose any of that sweet sweet cash for a $2Billion media buy, so the guy running against campaign corruption isn't their pick. Already we see them coordinating with the Clinton campaign on debates. This is going to be an uphill battle.

I wish they had asked the same questions about Bernie as they did about Hillary.
