http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/boys-are-curious-meet-the-duggar-defenders-using-religion-to-excuse-fondling-your-sleeping-sisters/Josh Duggar, his wife, and his parents issued statements Thursday confirming reports that he had engaged in inexcusable behavior more than a decade ago, when he was 14 years old, and he resigned his job with the anti-LGBT Family Research Council as calls poured into TLC to cancel the long-running 19 Kids and Counting.
However, the Duggars defenders offered prayers and messages of support on social media.
This shouldn't even be in the news, said Stephanie Truesdell in a Facebook comment. Its not current. Its done, over, and hes been forgiven. None of us, as fans/viewers, whatever, have any need to say anything. It was reported, and its been handeled. Its over.
The rest at link.
Supporters are willing to brush this evil under the rug.

(26,262 posts)Last I read it's been pulled from the line up but they are still deciding on what to do and the new season is still slated for June. HOPEFULLY it will disappear.

(10,500 posts)The Duggars are trying to represent the situation as one where Jim Bob took responsibility and brought his son to the police. He actually brought his son to a state trooper friend of his--now in jail for possessing child pornography--and got the matter swept under the rug. And it is not clear that even that happened until Josh molested a non-family member.
I hope that TLC cancels the show. My guess is that at the bare minimum they will not allow Josh back on it, and they will edit out any references to him. Or even any appearances by him when he is in the house. So we will never see him or hear about him again.
But Jim Bob and Michelle are culpable here and I hope that TLC--and the show's fans--are capable of processing that.

(48,217 posts)Some sort of sexual scandal was inevitable in that environment.
You take an essentially closed society, where the kids have few contacts with the outside world, no access to the ways teens normally express their curiosity about sex and no physical contact with opposite sex persons outside the family--not even hand holding--allowed, too many kids for the parents to supervise adequately, male supremacy (sense of entitlement on the male side and submission on the female side), and I'd be surprised if sexual abuse DIDN'T occur.
