NFL rip-off - greedy bastards

Seems some of those "Salutes to the Troops" and honoring our soldiers which gave many viewers a warm belly glow, were really just paid ads by the Dept. of Defense.

NFL gets 5.4 million for paid ads.

"The Department of Defense offers a breakdown (below) of payments since 2011. Teams that received taxpayer funds include the Baltimore Ravens ($799,000), Cincinnati Bengals ($138,960) Cleveland Browns ($22,500), the Green Bay Packers ($600,000), Pittsburg Steelers, ($36,000) Minnesota Vikings ($605,000), Atlanta Falcons ($1,049,500) Indianapolis Colts ($620,000), Buffalo Bills ($679,000), Dallas Cowboys ($62,500), Miami Dolphins ($20,000), Kansas City Chiefs ($250,000), St. Louis Rams ($60,000), and the afore-mentioned Jets"

2. The D.O.D. prefers to advertise in places where the "TEAM" concept is strong.

I read a piece last year that said that the DOD is well aware of the 'team spirit' concept for a young individual joining a branch of the military, so the DOD has learned, and/or figured, and/or decided that they get the most bang for their advertising buck when advertising in 'team' activity events.

That they NFL is getting PAID to honor troops is thoroughly disgusting. I always thought something was up with their "patriotism".

But when it is wrapped into a phony "honor", then it crosses a line.
