Wasn't Geraldo liberal back when the Rs impeached

Bill Clinton? I distinctly remember him defending Bubba every day on his show. Now he has become a buffoon on Fox. I guess they offered a lot of money to be a complete idiot. Very weird transformation. I actually liked him at one time.

He's been appeasing the ' National Inquirer ' set for a long time, that's why hearing about that young man calling him out for the piece of shit he is was so refreshing.

If he were to become a reporter that promotes liberal and progressive causes I would view that with skepticism.

and did an expose of the horrendous conditions at a mental institute called Willowbrook.

I think that show had a huge impact and led to the de-institutionalization of many mental patients . . . with many of them ending up homeless.

He has certainly fallen from those days.

was an institution for the developmentally disabled and Geraldo's expose led to new and improved standards as well as humane living conditions for how we treat those afflicted. It led to many regulations that included, staffing levels, the inclusion of training, work and recreation programs, inclusion in the community, and records to show that people were not just being warehoused, that they were given opportunities to learn and make progress. It led to the "Willowbrook Standards" for which all facilities would be judged and also to the formation of watch groups for oversight to ensure safety and well being.

The deinstitutionalization you are thinking of was for the mentally ill and that was started with Reagan, releasing folks to the community with no follow up and the closing of many psych centers. Deinstitutionalization for the developmentally disabled came much later, with the large institutions closing and smaller, home like settings taking their place.

Sorry to get long winded but this was my life's work, Geraldo broke through many barriers and did so much to better the lives of the developmentally disabled and for me, it really is so hard to take what a complete and useless idiot he is now. He completely sold out.
