This is an important column on Frankenfood.

But I have two qualifications.

One, Roundup-resistant stuff is a real problem, not because it is genetically modified, but because roundup is a problem. Regulatory guidelines needed. However, the absolutism of anti-Frankenfood activists, like that of anti-abortion activists, makes appropriate regulation all the harder.

Two, label it anyway. Giving people the information they want in order to decide for themselves may have bad consequences in the short run, but I'm with J. S. Mill here -- a right to know is best for all in the long run.
