if you want to know how much power we,the 99%,really have

you need look no further than this very website.
For those who have been here long enough, you know the name Andy.
When you really think about it Andy was among the top five, and possibly the single most powerful du'er ever.He was a thorn in the side of the PTB.

And look what happened. When he got sick a disinformation campaign smeared him so bad the money we donated to get him life saving surgery was held up until it was too late and we lost him.

People wonder why I copped an I don't care attitude on DU?Because it was made clear with Andy anyone who could make a difference would be silenced.

It's time to stand up guys and gals.We don't need an Andy...we need a million Andy's.It's time to take to the streets and force change.OWS could have been the movement but far too many...myself included, sat on the sidelines and watched them be destroyed.

It's time to fight back.People far more intelligent than me need to make this happen but it has to happen or we are all screwed

I've mentioned it a couple of times (in responses, not OPs) and been told I'm paranoid. I'm not paranoid - people really are out to steal elections, and the junk HAVA foisted on us makes it really easy.

And I see Election Reform here is pretty much moribund - many thanks to the folks who are keeping it somewhat alive.

Welcome to DU and the never-ending battle against right wing thought and actions, some of which are sold to us through Democratic party members right here on DU.

Thank you for the info on another Bush crime.

In the name of being "helpful." We're still voting on the paperless wonders in my neck of the woods, although I hear a lot of places have scrapped them. Good.

we have mail-in and/or drop-off "black out" style ballots mailed to every registered voter weeks before election day. They can be dropped at any public library and other government buildings.

Although what I really want is hand-counted at the precinct level, with webcams watching, results posted before ballots leave. Yeah, dream on.....

turn in with your ballot for verification if there are any errors. Post results on the internet.

There's a reason why I'm a political Lone Wolf...because I'm often standing alone, here, and in my real life.

I loved Andy. I miss Andy.

I am not silenced. And I don't really care who, here or elsewhere, doesn't like that.

I get alert swarmed here...I have my not friends here......because i simply wont play the popularity contest here.

I remember when DU2 was the place to be.We had activists,we were the place to be on the left.Hell,I was one of and still am one of the leading activists for the no kill shelter movement in SW Virginia.I quit bothering to post here about it because the grief from the *in crowd* that I didn't bow to wasn't worth it.

I placed two Siberians this week ....different shelters...we worked them together and they seem to get along great.A 4 year old and an eight month old.She took right to the youngin.
I don't bother posting shit like this here anymore.....it isn't worth the grief

Then DU3 and the jury system happened and this place became a popularity contest where you had to kiss the right asses or get banned.....I quit giving a shit about this place.

99% of the people here don't have a clue what activism is.Getting up at 4 in the morning on a Sunday to feed the animals at our no kill(and we have some wierd animals)....leaving there to drive a Siberian 65 miles to see if it is compatible with another Siberian......to haul them both to a screened adopter who wants to meet them so they may or may not adopt.....to unhaul them all and get back to the shelter in time to feed everything....and I mean thing. We have three adopted raccoons who cant be released...an armadillo...goats...over two hundred cats.....over one hundred dogs.....a squirrel(dont ask)minks.....you name it...we have it...all paid for out of donations and 90% of the donations come from our own pockets.

That is activism.

But if you don't kiss the right ass here you are a troll so don't worry about it.

I basically just come here now for the foodfights.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do here by co-opting his legacy. He was a great man, you sir, are no Andy Stephens.

Maybe you're trying to erase your shameful history of tying up people's pet dogs and shooting them. Or trivializing rape with flippant comments. Your posts in the lounge have been particularly odious, especially about women.

and that he died of sepsis instead of your version of the story.

I don't believe you do work at a shelter at all. No one who does would brag about tying up a pet dog and killing it.

He waited in the hospital for days because they wouldn't do the surgery without a down payment and Bev harris and company convinced PayPal this was a scam and the money got held up...but you know that.

There were some bev harris supporters here who even claimed he wasn't dead and the whole thing was a scam.....do you really want to dig that back up?

but while i am here let me ask all.....this is my yearly beg to everyone to donate to your local no kill.

We can use anything...GOOD food...bedding.....money never hurts......cages you no longer use......anything helps.

Go to your local no kill and simply ask what they need......they will have plenty of needs, from food to help cleaning.
Anyone working at a grocer or anywhere that sells animal food....have your manager ask about donating damaged bags of food to your local no kill...the company gets a writeoff and a shitload of good publicity
