A BIG election year worldwide

Both my country of birth (the US) and my "adoptive" country (South Korea) will have elections within weeks of each other. It might be interesting to see if there is any effect on the Korean election.

France and Greece this month

Serbia and Syria fairly soon (not sure when)

Russia happened earlier in the year

Israel, South Korea and the US later this fall.

A better list (but a bit incomplete) from Wikipedia:

Finnish presidential election, 2012
French presidential election, 2012
German presidential election, 2012
Hong Kong Chief Executive election, 2012
Indian presidential election, 2012
Senegalese presidential election, 2012
South Korean presidential election, 2012
Mexican general election, 2012
Malian presidential election, 2012
Russian presidential election, 2012
Republic of China presidential election, 2012
United States presidential election, 2012
Venezuelan presidential election, 2012

It's very doubtful though the liberals in South Korea will get behind a single candidate which means we may have another winger for President (the dictator's daughter Park, which makes it even worse) for another 5 years. I've decided this time since I have a visa which doesn't prevent me from being involved politically that I'm going to try to find a candidate to support and work for.

It looks like they have failed to form a government. The next person down the line gets a shot, then the current President will meet with all of the party leaders to see if something can be worked out. If not, they will have another election next month.

Like that's really going to change things!
