We are completely soaked. 2 inches of rain the past 3 days and today alone we're supposed to get 2-4 more.
I'm over it.

(1,805 posts)I'm sure my whining strikes those in CA as, well...asinine given your situation, but we're looking at some pretty nasty flooding today, along with severe storms. I'm afraid if the winds are high, a lot of trees are going to go down.
On the upside, my lawn and garden look fantastic...if only I could get out to tend to them.

(31,384 posts)I'm in Chapel Hill. My rain gauge showed 2 inches this past week. It's empty and ready for more.
Looks like the thunderstorms will hit us in about an hour.
We had trees--big ones-- come down around here from all the rain last fall.
Have a break right now but the bad stuff is moving in around 4 or 5.
And now we're under tornado watch.

(31,384 posts)Just getting some soft rain.
Hope you're ok!
We lived in tornado alley for 12 years in MO and NE--hit the basement a few times--but never experienced
a tornado until we were in Raleigh at a matinee of the Carolina ballet on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
We heard that freight train coming over head! Scary stuff to come out and see the aftermath.

(9,766 posts)I have never seen the kind of runoff we had. It's a total mess. And more severe storms possible this afternoon.
I remember that tornado. My relatives live in Cary...the pics were wild.

(9,766 posts)Severe storms will be moving in this afternoon...not a good combo with completely saturated soil.
I'm in NC...
ETA, thanks for your 'concern'.

I really think the brainiacs should figure out how to efficiently & cost effectively move our excess water out west...

(41,694 posts)When it rains like that, we call them toad stranglers.
The problem is that we may get half a years average rainfall in two days and then nothing for 6 months.

(39,961 posts)on the Gulf Coast earlier this week. I should have taken pictures of the back yard - easily 2 inches of standing water.
It washed a box turtle up onto the driveway and I rescued him from being stuck when the water receded.
It's still threatening to shower here off and on, but luckily we got a respite part of yesterday and part of today.
It RAINED - that hard, thundering loud rain that usually blows itself out after about 30 minutes - not this mess, though. It was a steady downpour Monday and Tuesday.
I had to laugh at the drought monitor
We (and New Orleans that broke a record for most rainfall in a single day on Tuesday) are listed as in a moderate drought LOL! Looks like your area is "abnormally dry" too

(6,907 posts)to Tennessee last night. From drought to floods. I've heard the climate changes will result in dry areas being drier and wet areas being wetter. Not just a big disruption to human populations - and to the crops in California and the South - but also to nature. Think about the bird migrations and the need for wetlands, etc.

Hey, did you hear the one about "nuisance flooding" in coastal Florida? Calling it what it is - "CLIMATE CHANGE" and even "rising ocean levels" must not be spoken in the Sunshine State.

(14,531 posts)All this rain is my fault. Last week, when I pulled into the garage, I left the top down to my convertible. I had plans to go out the next day to do a few things. Since then it has been raining, my car is still in the garage with its top down and I have been driving my spouse's car.
Do you want me to put the top up, so it will stop raining?

But you should hear the frogs at night.

Now if we could get your extra water.
Now be careful, those storms can be just as dangerous as my lovely wild fires. You drown, Chino burns...
