She's a Monster

[Content Note: Misogyny.]
So, one of the things I was thinking about, after I posted the thing about Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton, is how often I rarely hear Hillary Clinton spoken about in the same sentence as another woman without a frame that casts them as adversaries and/or competitors.
With the important caveats that no woman owes Hillary Clinton a vote, and that she must continue to work to earn the trust of all women, especially women of color, I find it really interesting (ahem) that a female candidate who has spent much of her career talking about women's issues is almost never discussed as having a good relationship with any other women.
And, the thing is, Clinton works extremely well with lots of other women. She seems to have a warm relationship with lots of her female colleagues: Women who work for her, women who work with her, other female leaders in the US, other female leaders around the globe.
Just a quick Google image search later, here is a totally different narrative than the one we usually get about Hillary Clinton:
Clearly, all of these women hate Hillary Clinton, and she is a monster.
some MORE really good pics to remind us that there is humans are NOT one dimensional (not even Hillary Clinton):

(30,058 posts)There are women who would never vote for Hillary and I don't think this will affect her advocacy for all women's issues in the future. It is women who do not earn as much as men, violence against women, and women on an even level with men considered for promotions.
Yes there are email sent in advance of candidates arriving in towns and usually includes an invitation to have you attend the event. This would be a payback to the volunteer work. If I should get an invitation to be able to meet with Hillary I will be making a large effort on my part to attend. I have been following the Clintons intently since 1980 and it would be my pleasure to meet Hillary.

(15,224 posts)I personally believe that one of Hillary's biggest strength is her ability to know and use the talents of other people. I hate that there is pitting of Hillary against Elizabeth Warren, when the two women met early on and have undeniably come to some understanding. I like them both and see no reason why they cannot work together on issues for the country. I think they are both smart enough to know that what they do is FOR THE COUNTRY!
Hillary is wise enough to know that she will benefit from the talents of others. That's what a good leader does!
BlueMTexpat
(15,374 posts)Elizabeth" is largely in the eye of those who promote such a confrontation and who don't really know either woman.
Those who have actually met or worked with Hillary know that she is a warm, compassionate, caring, intelligent - and best of all, highly qualified - woman who would make an outstanding national leader. And that is not just a pose for photo ops!
Is she perfect? No, but she's pretty darn close, IMO. And I have been around for a LONG time and seen many flashes in the pan come and go in my 70+ years.
Do I also like Elizabeth? Yes, I totally adore her. But she isn't running in this election cycle.
hamsterjill
(15,224 posts)I feel exactly the same way as what you said.
I also feel that Elizabeth will have HER time at a point in the future. She's way too talented and should have a long life in politics.
Hillary has worked long and hard to get to where she is today, and I believe she is deserving of a shot at the presidency. Yes, we would have a primary season, but I think when all is said and done, barring some completely unanticipated event, that she will be the nominee. I will be happy with that, and I'll be first in line to vote!

(3,595 posts)Funny. I figured out that the basis for the Iraq war was bullshit before the war began. Was she that dumb or didn't she want to be labeled as weak on national defense.
After all, she probably figured out in 2003 -- nobody would elect a week kneed liberal as president.

(3,595 posts)The point of the thread is that there is nothing wrong with Hillary's positions and actions except that some women may not like her.
Well...
She is a corporatist.
She is pro war.
She is pro oil (when they contribute to her foundation).
To reduce the complaints about her to the essence that some women may not like her?
The thread is ridiculous.
There are issues that are more important than if she appeals to women.

(1,021 posts)Those and other reasons are why she will not get my vote in the primaries. And not one penny, one phone call or one door knock from me for the entire election cycle. She can rely on her "hardworking white Americans" and her racist PUMAs for that kind of support.
In the general election I will vote against her GOP opponnent instead of for her.
She showed herself to be a monster when it mattered in 2008. That conduct spoke volumes to me about her character, far more than these pictures of her grinning beside other women ever could.

I don't give a damn who you ended up voting for.
I know there's plenty of racist white men in the Democratic Party.
But I also know that there are plenty of racist white women in the Democratic Party who pretend to be cool with black women and other women of color.
Bottom line: Hillary Clinton has to earn my vote. Just like Obama had to. Just like any other Democratic Party candidate had to in the past.
Hillary Clinton gets no special treatment no matter how self-entitled she or her fans are.
She has to earn it!
And don't play that sexism bullshit with me. I'm a fucking black woman. We know what sexism and racism are. Very well!

No more of this bullshit!

(22,666 posts)....I had someone in my life for over 4 years who portrayed me as a "monster". He was combative, abusive, insulting, belittling, controlling and jealous. He humiliated me in public and blew up (in public) at the drop of a hat - yet told me he was afraid of ME humiliating HIM in front of "his people" (as if they were The King's subjects). He portrayed me (to myself and others) as "too angry" and made sexist and insulting remarks to me constantly.
After 4 years, I set the asshole loose on another whose butt he'd been sniffing whilst he was still with me. After 4 years, he knew me not one iota better than he did the day we met. IOW, he didn't know me at all. One of my last comments to him was "the anger you see in me, is YOURS."
Beware those who seek to portray certain of us in the negative without ever bothering to truly know us, instead preferring to look at us through the dirtied lens of their own fear, jealousy, meanness and "monsterism".
These kind of people project their own meanness onto others and blame others for their own abusive personalities -- rather than fixing themselves -- they blame someone else.
This is how I view those who call Hillary Clinton a "monster". I don't agree with all her past policy positions but "monster", she is not.
However, I'm not so sure about those who call her that. I think THEY are the real monsters. Just like that abuser I put up with for 4 years - he didn't know me. And these people don't know Hillary either. But they have to blame someone for their own meanness. And she's a convenient target.
