http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/exclusive-hillary-clinton-lesbian-lovers-named-secret-emailsI'm not going to quote the article, suffice to say that the article relies on "unnamed sources close to her" and manages to appeal to both Clinton haters and homophobic bigots. I don't know who the GOP's new Rove is,but the whispering campaign has turned into a sickening shout.

(11,417 posts)you feel the need to tell us you won't support her.
How many times have you told us since she announced?
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)We know. You've told us frequently. I'm not sure how it's relevant to this thread, though.
I mean, you can keep repeating it until general election campaign time, of course. We already know, though, that you don't support Hillary Clinton's candidacy and won't vote for her if she is the nominee. We get it.
Your choice.

(68,644 posts)But my criticism will be designed to encourage others to work within the system, the rules outside and inside this board, to pressure her to adopt more enlightened positions than her history has indicated she is willing to adopt absent such pressure.
Hey, BTW, I'm in the city tomorrow for a thing at CalAcademy in the park in case you want to get together.
I'm there a lot, including on opening day(s) back whenever that was and with a CBS crew and some students, we had the full inside out tour of the LEED platinum facility, inside out and all over the roof. I wish I could post my selfies w celebs but not here.
CreekDog
(46,192 posts)expect it to go very badly if you say that kind of stuff to environmentalists.
NYC_SKP
(68,644 posts)We encourage good traffic flow, HOV lanes do this.
Every time a car has to stop, it wastes inertial energy and converts it into heat, it's wasteful when that happens.
Then you have a car at rest that needs to accelerate back up to speed, additional loses of energy and burning of fossil fuel.
That's just plain bad.
Controlled intersections work best, with traffic lights that alternate N-S with E-W and pedestrian traffic in a three-way light, rather than the pedestrians getting their light at the same time as the cars.
Don't you agree that might be safer and environmentally sound, let cars go when it's cars' turn, and stop all cars for pedestrians?

CreekDog
(46,192 posts)21950.
(c) The driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any
marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall
reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other action relating to
the operation of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of
the pedestrian.
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=veh&group=21001-22000&file=21949-21971
the law anticipates that a vehicle would slow down. any large street with multiple lanes or cross traffic is going to necessitate that vehicles slow for crossers because there are many streets where traffic is far too busy to have a gap large enough for a pedestrian to cross without vehicles slowing down or stopping to allow it.
NYC_SKP
(68,644 posts)Your citation has nothing to do with what makes sense.
We know that stupid ass pedestrians, children, drunkards, cranksters, and escaped convicts might dash out at any time, and drivers are on notice to be on the lookout and slow and stop for these.
They also need to stop for boorish, self-important city fools who CHOOSE to step out in front of traffic even when the lights say "Don't Walk".
Everyone here in California knows this, CreekDog.
So, would you care to respond to whether or not it would be a good idea for cities to adopt controlled intersections as described in my earlier reply, in which N-S, E-W, and pedestrian traffic all have their turns, that none are permitted to move at the same time.
(not that drivers could plow over scofflaws, they still need to slow for pedestrians who cross against lights)
My plan is safest for busy intersections, we've been doing it in some cities for generations.
No right on red, and an all pedestrians may walk rotation in the signal light program.
CreekDog
(46,192 posts)glad you're coming around on that one, though the rant above it against people walking in cities (when you call people "fools" and "stupid ass..." is rather off the rails, so to speak.
and all your bragging about never causing cars to even so much as slow down or brake is not possible in a large city and most higher density suburbs. to get across those streets does require cars to slow and stop where there are crosswalks but no signal lights.

No matter the progression, there still needs to be progression. Be that a fighter for the 99% or that the 99% come to the realization
that they must invest skin in the game, meaning becoming voting patriots.
Someone has to start somewhere, is all that I am saying. The more that participate the more organic the process will become and

I contributed to an out-of-state campaign because I am taken by her passion and integrity.
And, to be honest, I wanted her in a position to be able to run for POTUS.
So far, so good.
This has been a tough financial year for me with the brain aneurism and three additional surgeries, lots of expense and lost productivity.
Two years ago, however, I'd have gladly donated a chunk to MoveOn or whichever effort there is.

(15,696 posts)And no, she wasn't fired from the committee. From Snopes:
At that time, the Judiciary Committee comprised 37 members of the House of Representatives and was chaired by Representative Peter Rodino, Jr., of New Jersey. The Judiciary Committee was assisted by a permanent staff, on which attorney Jerry Zeifman served as Chief Counsel, and (for this occasion) by a separate Impeachment Inquiry staff assembled to determine whether President Nixon had committed impeachable offenses. That inquiry staff was headed by former U.S. Justice Department lawyer John Doar, and one of his hires was a 26-year-old Yale Law School graduate then known by her maiden name of Hillary Rodham (who a few years later would marry future Arkansas governor and U.S. president Bill Clinton).
A pair of articles published during Hillary Clinton's run for the presidency in 2008, one by Northstar Writers Group founder Dan Calabrese and one by Jerry Zeifman himself, asserted that Zeifman was Hillary's supervisor during the Watergate investigation and that he eventually fired her from the investigation for "unethical, dishonest" conduct. However, whatever Zeifman may have thought of Hillary and her work during the investigation, he was not her supervisor, neither he nor anyone else fired her from her position on the Impeachment Inquiry staff (Zeifman in fact didn't have the power to fire her, even had he wanted to do so), and his description of her conduct as "unethical" and "dishonest" is his personal, highly subjective characterization (and the "facts" on which he bases that characterization are ones that he has contradicted himself about on multiple occasions).
