US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan on track

The US Defense Department says the first phase of President Barack Obama's planned troop withdrawal from Afghanistan has been completed.

Defense Department Press Secretary George Little told NHK on Thursday that there are now 91,000 US troops in Afghanistan, down from more than 101,000 in the summer. snip
