Do You Agree With Bill Maher, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins etc on Religion Issue ?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by etherealtruth (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Bill Maher, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins etc says

1) All Religions are bull-shit and middle age Beliefs

I Agree

2) Most Terrorist are Islam Followers.

I Agree as long as they say "Most Terrorist" and not "all terrorist" as there are Christian terrorist, Jew terrorist, Buddhist terrorist , Hindu terrorist etc.

3) Islam is not a race. Thus, if you criticize islam, you are not a racist

I agree as islam is followed by people of every race including whites, blacks, hispanics etc. Thus, you are not criticizing a single race

4) Most people in Islamic majority countries like Pak, S. Arabia, UAE prefer death for LGBT, death for leaving religion, flogging , cross roads beheading etc..citing different surveys done

I agree that surveys maybe authentic and there may be truth in that, but this is selective reporting. How about also reporting conservative Christian majority countries were LGBT rights are denied and often humiliated. Problem starts when you report only of islamic countries and not of other countries. I say report as much as you like for islamic countries but not omit the christian/hindu/jew countries too.

5) All religions are bull-shit but there is no other religion more bull-shit and moronic then islam

As an atheist/agnostic, we should view all religions as equal - they are all bullshit and middle age belief. Thus, calling one religion more moronic than other religion may create wrong impression. I am all for calling spade a spade - for example : if most terrorist are islam followers..let's say it clearly...but that doesn't provide a moral high ground for Christianity / Judaism as there are few terrorists from every religion and also each religion has a bloodshed past.

What do you all think ?

Bill Maher on Christianity & Osama bin Laden

New rule: if you’re a Christian who supports killing your enemies and torture, you have to come up with a new name for yourself.

Last week, as I was explaining why I didn’t feel at all guilty about Osama’s targeted assassination, I made some jokes about Christian hypocrisy and since then strangers have been coming up to me and forcing me to have the same conversation.

<snip>

For almost 2,000 years, Christians have been lawyering the Bible to try and figure out how “love thy neighbor” can mean “hate thy neighbor” and how “turn the other cheek” can mean “screw you I’m buying space lasers.”

Martin Luther King gets to call himself a Christian because he actually practiced loving his enemies. And Ghandi was so fucking Christian he was Hindu.

When it comes to your questions

1. The 3 main Abrahamic religions have claims that lack evidence (virgin birth for Christianity & Islam)

2. The word terrorist is a loaded word & exactly what do we mean here? What atrocities are considered terrorism & which isn't? Besides that would be like saying most serial killers are male but not all males are serial killers.

I view groups such as Al-Qaeda, House of Saud, ISIS, etc as cults mostly & they basically are. It saddens me the very same people critical aren't interested in serious direction. It makes me ill when Bill Maher brings up "liberals" but liberals are the only ones actually condemning the oppressive monarchies/dictatorships such as Saudi Arabia but Wahabbism didn't even exist until the 18th century they took over the Saudi Arabia in very much the same way ISIS did -- they're an authoritarian right-wing orthodox sect of Sunni Islam which is actually a minority in Saudi Arabia but a "dominant minority" that uses fear & intimidation, propaganda, & selective intepretation & twisting to dupe followers. There is so much corruption, oppression, & armed conflict that help with recruiting.

3. This is a more complex answer to the question being asked. Have you ever heard the term "sand n-?". Considering so many are so poorly uninformed on Islam and its 1.5 billion followers & numerous sects with different beliefs & practices that many are indeed racist when having those beliefs. The idea of a white Muslim would shock the shit out of a lot of these fools. This doesn't so much apply in the case of Maher but certainly applies to some people. How else do you explain far too many people actually believe Obama is an undercover Muslim Marxist Terrorist forging a birth certificate to sneak USSR style Socialism on us? The woman who told McCain she thinks he is a Muslim?

4. Citing the oppressive countries of Saudi Arabia (the one with the unique sect with so much money & political influence) isn't very convincing of anything representative of Islam or why it is such a special problem.

I'm actually an atheist myself but fascinated in history as well as religions so I wouldn't mind discussing what I think is moronic or bull shit. Personally, broadly out of Jewish, Muslim, & Christianity I personally feel the original claims of Christianity are more outrageous or not true than the other two. The big one is that Jesus of Nazerath is the "son of god", there is also resurrections, & countless other likely fictional events. Islam & Jewish are more similar & Christianity has a very different view of Jesus overall.

As far as calling a spade a spade I have no problem slamming Wahabbism just as I have no problem slamming The Door Christianity.
