It's actually a useful filter. Find out who's against it. I sometimes do that while studying my sample ballot. Helps to know if a bunch of slickie-boys from the GOP, or some fancy-ass "foundation" with some lofty title like Americans for Family Freedom-Freedom and Liberty
or some such thing. That's usually a dog whistle for a CON front.

Sometimes you just don't have a lot of time to sift through all the facts and figures and fine print. In such circumstances - look who's for it and who's against it. I've come to recognize that if the bush/cheney types are for it, if the CONS are for it, if yertle is for it, or boner is for it, if ted cruz is for it, if Pox Noise is pushing it or george will and company approve to it, then it's DEFINITELY something to stay away from!
