After Indiana Pizzeria Said They Wouldn’t Cater Gay Weddings, the Backlash Was So Extreme It May Not

Re-Open...

Aw they are having a sad LOL...had to see what was the latest- Glen Beck loser show had fucked up teeth girl on the phone. She said they are confused and sad and she was suspended from her other job till this blows over. Said they were having some type of family issues and she just had gotten an apartment and doesn't have any money coming in.

Beck loser lady hosting show told her she can't believe in 2015 this poor family is being "persecuted"

they also setup a gofundme for loser family and it already has 90K in it...probably from the druggers LOL

shitty blaze link below but not much more from what is here....

"O’Connor said the media is distorting what her family truly believes. They are happy to serve gay customers, she reiterated, but object to being forced to participate in a gay wedding, since they don’t believe in gay marriage.

“We’re very hurt and confused and we stood up for what we believe,” she said. “The news just took it totally out of proportion. They lied about it. We said that we would serve anyone that walked in that door, even gays, but we would not condone a wedding. We would not cater that because it’s against our religious beliefs.”

And the more hate you spew, the more pay you get.

Gofundme is the Republican bootstrap plan. Just do something absolutely rotten and you'll get instant free money from other rotten people.

They ARE in that kind of business. They're probably NEVER going to be asked to do a wedding reception - gay or straight.

They either
1. Played a long shot, hoping that the conservative machine would come to their rescue, making them pretty sneaky-smart
2. Are just some rubes who wanted to mouth-off to show everyone that they're on God's side, and with the GoFund campaign, extremely lucky

The offer was to be a test case for businesses being oppressed supposedly by the mean gays. The carrot was the Gofundme site.

I'll bet O'Keefe really wanted a baker or florist but all he could find was this pathetic pizza place. "We won't bake pizzas for gay wedding receptions" is lame but it was the best they could find.

First their beliefs are not in line with majority of Americans after the last 8 years. Most have changed their beliefs in last 8 years about gay marriage including the President. But then to say they would not surve pizza at a gay wedding as if that is the number one item is so dumb. These business owners do not have a brain at all.

Now they're being "...forced to participate." Originally, they said they would not sell pizza to a gay wedding. Now they're being forced to participate. I guess they would be required to attend the ceremony? Stand around and smile? Kiss the grooms? Do the chicken dance? This is what they do. When I say "they," I mean the batty Christers. They make some hateful statement, and place it in the context of their religious freedom. Then, when people point out they're being ignorant and intolerant, they get all sad and blue about being "persecuted." The know how to play the victimization game.

with the wedding. It would not be the formal reception and it certainly would not be the wedding itself? Who has food of any kind at the actual wedding? Just nuts.

They inserted themselves into a national debate and now they are crying about the media?
Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Get a clue, woman, all you had to say was "we serve everyone." Didn't have to mention catering a gay wedding. Has anyone ever ASKED you to cater a gay wedding?? Probably not. No, you wanted the attention. Well you got it.

I would also point out that it is a bit of a stretch in the first place to talk about delivering a bunch of pizzas to a wedding party as "catering." Just sayin'.

I saw this on HUffpost...

"BTW, Memories Pizza has set up a GoFundMe page which has garnered nearly $50,000 from Christian bigots. It needs to be shut down. To do that: go to www.gofundme.com/contact/ -> click on green contact button. Select "donor" as type, then "other" then click the "I still need help" button and submit your message directly to them. The more messages they receive, the faster they will close the account."

Speaking of set up, I think this was the whole idea of going public with their bigotry. Why else announce that they won't cater gay weddings with their excuse for pizza? How often would they have had this request? I believe it was all planned.

I'm hoping they get enough money to move the entire family, along with their like-thinking friends out of Indiana, and to an even more backward state. Then, everybody wins.

Problamatic, isn't it?

Somebody should call a priest and find out.

Others can just attend a meeting and confess publically...?

The backlash shows the "market" works...is legislation even needed?

further, this is a stupid cake. Is there no other cake maker out there? If I was part of a gay couple I wouldn't want to frequent such establishment. It does seem clear to me this is a political agenda at work (on both sides)

These jokers said they would make the cake, but just didn't want to attend the wedding. Should they be forced to?

Should a black business owner be forced to serve at a KKK meeting?

I get that there is a slippery slope at play, but wisdom would win the day on this.

Please explain that one to me. Confused? I don't think so.

They opened their mouths to admit that they would openly discriminate and they are getting the backlash from that from other Americans who happen to disagree.

They don't want to cater a wedding that goes against their religious beliefs? Then I don't want to buy pizza from someone who thinks that way. Tit for tat, etc. They want to 'dish' it out (pun intended!) but they can't take it.

26. So she's happy to serve gays pizza but not a gay wedding
Thu Apr 2, 2015, 12:59 PM
Apr 2015

She should have asked herself this - how many gay weddings has she been asked to serve or could be asked to serve knowing that her restaurant is basically a low-end pizza joint. In fact, she should have asked how many weddings have they been asked to cater in their time (late night pizza deliveries to wedding after parties do not count). Why would she have even mentioned something like catering a gay wedding when in fact her business probably wasn't in the business of wedding catering.

And I will give some lee-way here. This place was not downtown in the city but in more rural parts of the state. I'm from rural PA and I've seen wedding receptions held in crazier places. When a couple getting married is working minimum wage jobs perhaps a pizza place like this one is an option for a wedding reception, absolutely nothing wrong with that. But I can't imagine that this place is hosting weddings every single weekend that it's a commonplace happening that takes up enough business that they could easily turn away 'gay business'. I just can't imagine they get any business of note in the wedding catering business in the first place.

I saw the menu on yelp. This isn't even exotic flavors of pizzas but your basic ingrediants thrown on processed white floured dough served with canned tomato sauce and cheese that probably has so much oil in it you could light it on fire. Oh and the people who obey the book of Leviticus in regards to the gays totally ignore it when it comes to pork - Pork Sausage, Bacon and Ham are available as toppings.

In some ways I blame the person who interviewed her - it's almost like the media was looking to put a name and business to hate. There have been other business owners interviewed who said they will practice hate but they were smart enough to not give out their place of busieness or name. They knew better to put a 'white robe' on themselves to protect the business.
