It's been fun but and now well enough to travel and the plane awaits.

This was an interesting experience here at DU but my son, who owns an Internal Aviation Service has booked us a plan to return home in Italy where the weather is warmer and the people even warmer.

One thing I really love about the Italians, they know full well that their government is corrupt from top to bottom and usually ignore it. When the workers strike, garbage pickup comes to mind they let the crap pile in the streets until the government says ''Uncle'' and gives in to the strikers. That's the difference between a society that is thousands of years old versus on that has a history of only a couple of hundreds years old, they can laugh at themselves.

I wish the Democrats the best of luck in the up and coming elections, because the other side is insane. But am afraid that no matter who is elected the flight plan has already been made, world domination through military might.

And let's face it, Oligarchs have no patriotism for a country and are only using the United States because of its vast military might and the voters are generally asleep at the wheel.

Best of luck to one and all,

George

the corruption and hope is replaced with cynicism. That is the saddest part of this defeat.

Safe travels to you.

garbage for a relatively short time. If that were our scenario, I'd be a lot less cynical.

were (a) for a variety of reasons, European cities lend themselves to strikes much more than the the nation in which I live; and (b) the Italians in your example were willing to let the garbage pile up until they got what they wanted. We are not as willing to make short term sacrifices. But we are willing to laugh at ourselves or Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert would not have become so rich.

Glad you are feeling better. Have a flight that is as enjoyable as these things get and drop in to gloat every now and again. Best wishes.

we'll get by like we always do. And when you're in the Eternal City, be sure to say high to the cats, all 300,000 of them. Especially the really feral ones in the Coliseum. Cutest things I ever saw...
