BERLIN (AP) -- Germany's top security officials say they are formally launching an investigation to determine whether a far right party should be banned over its antidemocratic convictions.
Germany's Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said Friday he reached agreement with his counterparts from the country's 16 states to gather material for a trial seeking to ban the NPD party. They say the National Democratic Party is "inhuman, hostile to democracy and anti-Semitic."

(16,887 posts)Isnt it interesting to know that under even current German law the use of the swastika is banned?
I know we have the 1st amendment and all, but I cant even begin to explain how the sight of the swastika being used here makes my blood cringe....it shoukd be seen as no different in terms of our laws banning the burning of the crosses on peoples front yards....
But yes, when I look how whacka-doodle our far right has gone in this country, I wish we could ban them....at a minimum from the radio & TV.....
