Michael Vick speaks out on Ala. cockfighting law
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/eagles/story/2012-04-17/Michael-Vick-cockfighting-alabama/54339702/1
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has made another effort to say animal cruelty is wrong, urging Alabama lawmakers to increase penalties for cockfighting.
Vick says in a statement Monday that Alabama's cockfighting law is the nation's "weakest" because the $50 fine is the maximum punishment. Vick has been outspoken against animal cruelty since he served 16 months in federal prison on a dog-fighting conviction.
Vick says he doesn't want others to make the same mistake of being cruel to animals.
Sen. Cam Ward introduced a bill that would upgrade the state's penalty for illegal cockfighting to a class A misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $6,000. The bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee early in the session, but the Senate Rules Committee refused to bring up the bill for a vote.

Good for him. I will take him at his word that he wants to prevent animal cruelty.

Sometimes good can come out of selfish things so let it be good and that's that.

I just figured if we're going to start anti-Vick threads about a crime in which he has served his time for then perhaps people need to find out what the guy is doing today.

Whether you agree with the "sport" or not (and I don't) this is a great song.
My opinion of Vick is lower than whale shit but props to him for doing this.

I probably wouldn't have posted this if it was not for the other Michael Vick thread started where once again everyone bashes Vick but doesn't recognize that the man not only served his time but is doing alot of hard work today.

Some people do learn from their mistakes and become better people for doing so. I hope this is the case for Michael Vick.
