Dick Clark was colorblind

I think it was yesterday morning when I was listening to Q104 on my way to the train that one of the morning jocks made the point. In the 50s when racism and Jim Crow were still thriving in America Dick Clark had African American artists on his show and treated them as he treated everyone else. It was radical, but he did it as if it was as simple as tying his shoes.

Thank you again Mr. Clark.

on a TV musical variety show back in the early 60s. Particularly down south it caused an uproar. That's what it was like. Through the music, Mr. Clark helped the younger generation coming up to see each other as human beings.
