At the Ferguson Market & Liquor Store. A frenzy out front it appears. The agent provocateurs are carrying the day so far.

(7,412 posts)With arm loads of liquor bottles, yes I would bet they will get some liquid courage in them a little later tonight. The situation is already explosive enough, alcohol surely won't help.
sure, sure.
Nice sharp focus you have there.

(25,406 posts)Is it not just possible that some folks might see this as an opportunity to grab some free booze?

(3,076 posts)A few bottles were thrown, and then the police start firing tear gas, and things start to escalate rapidly. Exactly what the Ferguson PD wanted to happen.

(10,158 posts)At the last Occupy Oakland protests, they attracted a bunch of young adults from the more affluent areas (based on the published arrest reports) who seem to like to see themselves on TV causing havoc. I'm not in Ferguson, all I know is what MSNBC is showing. I certainly can't tell from 2000 miles away whether someone torching a car or breaking a window is a police provocateur, a self-appointed anarchist in town to cause mayhem, or a resident overwhelmed with anger and frustration.

Antonio French, an alderman who was arrested trying to get word earlier with the first protests, was in the news:
Alderman Antonio D. French is serving his first term as the Alderman of the 21st Ward, representing parts of the neighborhoods of The Greater Ville, Kingsway East, Mark Twain, Penrose, and O'Fallon, where he was born and raised. Prior to becoming Alderman he served the 21st Ward as the Democratic Committeeman and managed numerous winning political campaigns as the president of his own consulting firm.
During his time on the Board, French, one of the youngest city aldermen, has earned a reputation for passionately serving his ward and creating new initiatives to improve the quality of life in north St. Louis. In 2010, the Riverfront Times named him "Best Local Politician".
Last year, his "Block by Block" partnership with the non-profit Rebuilding Together and Boeing resulted in the rehab of more than 50 homes for seniors and disadvantaged homeowners.
His partnership with the Sheldon Concert Hall has led to two successful summer jazz concert series in O'Fallon Park, helping to revitalize that beautiful public park...

Later he was with protestors and saw white people destroying property to get the police to react. Then they fled.
I'm glad this was identified and it appears he has been arrested:
