https://twitter.com/hashtag/lakeeffect?src=hashI like the one showing the snowblower ready to go, in the garage....
and then the garage door opens to 12 feet of snow wall.
Until now, for some reason, I have not really understood/appreciated "lake effect" snow....
but a now popular video shows that storm coming in off the lake, and suddenly it makes sense.

The blizzard of '78 was horrible in my neck of the woods, this makes that storm look like a flurry. My sympathy to all those who had to shovel or snow blow this mess.
Global warming(cooling) --couldn't be. Weather changes? Just your imagination.

Last year when I reached Binghamton on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, there was snow on the ground - sis said it was the first snow of the season there to greet me. It snowed for most of my stay. I hate snow and snow hates me. I don't expect snow in Miami this year

(31,464 posts)7. Just to be clear, this is a TIME LAPSE video.
The snow/clouds were not moving anywhere near that fast. It's easy to spot when you look at the rapid flashing of lights and passing traffic. Yes, it is very dramatic, but many people seem to think this storm actually moved in that quickly. It didn't.
