Phyllis Schlafly: Impeach Obama for turning the US into a Third World Country

“I think it’s worth impeachment, but I don’t think that’s going to happen,” she told the far-right outlet WorldNetDaily, adding that the president wants to “bring us down” and “fundamentally transform our country into something like the Third-World countries.”

“[Obama] is trying to fundamentally transform our country into something like the Third-World countries, because he thinks it’s just really unfair that we’re better, richer, freer and more prosperous, and he’d like to bring us down to the level of other countries,” Schlafly said.

The longtime conservative activist said she expects another border surge, like the one this past summer, once word of Obama’s “deferred action” plan spreads throughout Central America. She also thinks amnesty by executive action rises to the level of a high crime or misdemeanor.

“I think it’s worth impeachment, but I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Schlafly said.

Yes, Phyllis. Obama wakes up every morning wondering how he can turn the US into a third world country. I am always surprised that Schafly is both still around and still worth quoting in the right wing press.

a caring heart.
Nothing Obama has done or will do is what created this problem. The problem is the drug war and the lack of jobs. We have seen what that has done to American citizens, and it is a lot worse for people from other countries. We have done a lot to create those situations they are trying to get away from.
Also, I get sick of people putting the brunt of the blame on the people moving here to find jobs or to be safe, but no one mentions the people who hire them and exploit them.
Schafly was a blight in the 80s and she has only gotten worse over the years. But the right wing loves her so we keep hearing from her.

Obama hasn't been the greatest on such issues, but you'd have to impeach every single Republican in Congress and on the Supreme Court first. Their culpability and complicity in our spiral towards third world status far outweighs his. Ditto every CEO of every company that outsources.

What is making our standard of living plummet is low wages, austerity, the unwillingness of congress to invest in infrastructure or the space program, opposition to jobs bills, the Supreme Court rulings, and corporate greed. We actually used to have a pretty high standard of living. I am not so sure that we rank in the top five in anything good anymore.
Thanks, W.

zactly!!!

I have a couple family members who are smitten with Borderliner Syndrome or whatever the actual name of the disorder is. Projection is a main characteristic of their line of reasoning... it's always someone else who is the offender and they are the professional victims. (I call them professionals because they get sympathy and perks from convincing the uninformed of their plight.) But the point being that they always argue that whatever they have done that is offensive or inappropriate was actually done by someone else who has successfully affixed the blame on them. And you can never do enough for people like that... the original takers.

They won't have enough votes for conviction (and aren't even looking to convict) but they'll spin it as "we had the majority to convict but he got off on a technicality" (i.e. the 2/3 requirement). They're just determined to impeach him because they view any Democratic president as illegitimate by definition and they desperately want to smear his name in the history books, just as they have with Clinton.

Everyone forgets, Ken Starr originally started out investigating Whitewater. They used that to launch an endless fishing expedition and Monica just happened to be the only thing they could nail him on. They'll do the same with Obama; manufacture a "scandal" (which the corporate media will report as fact) and then impeach Obama over that. They'll launch endless investigations, find some minor breach of protocol (and every admin has them), some missed comma or uncrossed "t", drum up a "scandal" over it and impeach him over that. Right now, it's looking like they'll hang it on the peg marked "executive orders" but it could be over the climate deal or even Benghazi.

and stop responding to these bids to make the issue partisan.

We have united oligarchy, not gridlocked democracy.

.And that's what the Princeton study revealed. We have corporate money flooding both sides of the aisle in Washington and corrupting the direction of both major parties to the point that citizens have no impact on policy anymore.

That's why we see this:

Mass spying on Americans? Both parties support it.
Handing the internet to corporations? Both parties support it.
Austerity for the masses? Both parties support it.
Cutting social safety nets? Both parties support it.
Corporatists in the cabinet? Both parties support it.
Tolling our interstate highways? Both parties support it.
Corporate education policy? Both parties support it.
Bank bailouts? Both parties support it.
Ignoring the trillions stashed overseas? Both parties support it.
Trans-Pacific Job/Wage Killing Secret Agreement? Both parties support it.
TISA corporate overlord agreement? Both parties support it.
Drilling and fracking? Both parties support it.
Wars on medical marijuana instead of corrupt banks? Both parties support it.
Deregulation of the food industry? Both parties support it.
GMO's? Both parties support it.
Privatization of the TVA? Both parties support it.
Immunity for telecoms? Both parties support it.
"Looking forward" and letting war criminals off the hook? Both parties support it.
Deciding torturers are patriots? Both parties support it.
Militarized police and assaults on protesters? Both parties support it.
Indefinite detention? Both parties support it.
Drone wars and kill lists? Both parties support it.
Targeting of journalists and whistleblowers? Both parties support it.
Private prisons replacing public prisons? Both parties support it.
Unions? Both parties view them with contempt.
Trillion dollar increase in nuclear weapons. Both parties support it.
New war in Iraq. Both parties support it.
New war in Syria. Both parties support it.
Carpet bombing of captive population in Gaza. Both parties support it.

We have united oligarchy, not gridlocked democracy. That's why we need to become the 99 percent, back non-corporate-corrupted politicians like Bernie Sanders who are talking honestly about what has been done to this nation, and get corporate money and power out of BOTH PARZtIES, elections, and the halls of government. We need to demand our representation back.

and Reagan gave anyone who had been in the country before 1982 complete amnesty. And there actually was a border surge. Which makes no sense because it was only immigrants who were already in the country for 2 years that were getting amnesty.
