For those that don't know him, you know his vocals on "Cripple Creek"...I remember when The Band broke onto the scene and I thought Levon gave them that "Old Timey" sound, like someone singing from a different era. He was also a quirky great drummer. I envy you for seeing him playing at his Midnight Rambles sessions...must have been excellent shows.

Here's Levon playing on Letterman a few years ago, doing a terrific version of Tennessee Jed - a perfect Dead tune for him to cover, IMHO. I think his son-in-law is Larry Campbell who's playing the electric slide guitar. Levon's daughters also playing on this number.

Levon is a hero of mine. I remember when I was in high school and a budding guitar player, my sis gave me the " Music From Big Pink" and "The Band" albums. Te music they contained shaped my way of thinking about music right to this day.

Godspeed to Levon and peace be with his family
